The food just isn't the same now that most of the Hoffman house menu has disappeared....losing salad bar is frustrating. Hoffman house salad bar had a reputation in the city, when we chose to eat here it was often because of the soup and salad bar. It was a unique delicious salad bar with a ton of great cold recipes that were amazing. Now it's just mediocre bar food and over priced prime rib. I understand COVID and supply chain caused great increases for a while. Hoffman house seems to be demonstrating greed, specifically with the prime rib. $36 and $48 for queen/king is out of control. There are several places near by where you can get equal or better tasting prime rib and the price is $10 cheaper for both the queen/king. I am not saying I will never eat here again but the chicken Parmesan dinner (that is not served with pasta for some reason) and the Reuben I had were both mediocre at best, the Reuben was missing something, there wasn't much flavor at all. The chicken Parmesan not coming with pasta is strange but on top of that they put about a tablespoon of pasta sauce on top of a fried chicken patty ....the sauce was bland and the chicken very dry...... we've been going here for years. I may try again someday but not...

This used to be a 5 star review - I would make it a part of every trip to Rockford to get a Big BoB burger at Scoreboard... I am sad to say that stopped tonight. I waited for over ten minutes before I had to flag someone down who walk right past me mutiple times, whom I told I wanted to eat and asked if I could just sit anywhere ( you used to be shown to a table unless you were at the bar in the years prior ). No problem, they are short staffed. So I proceeded to hunt for a table that didn't have garbage all over it, again, they're short staffed, understandable. I ordered my drink, thinking she was going to return with the menu. Blue Moon arrived without the usual slice of orange. No menu, but I figured she was really busy and though nothing of it. 15 minutes later I managed to flag her down again, and she informed me that I can't order food since the kitchen is closed? This was at 9:15pm - I specifically said I wanted to eat here when I flagged her down the first time. Will not return, and I am glad Steak and Shake was open across the street. 45 minutes of my time completely wasted - they really need to work on staffing the...
Read moreVery disappointing. Food was average at best. Don't go in expecting anything resembling Hoffman House. Wife ordered prime rib sandwich and was given Italian beef. She didn't complain because she didn't think it would make much difference after seeing the quality. Beef was really subpar. Dry and rubbery. Almost seemed microwaved. My chicken breast sandwich was fine. My 5 year old didn't like the fish, but I don't put too much stock in that. We saw one table being served fried chicken which wasn't even on our menu-- very odd. We would have ordered it if we knew we could. Wait staff was disorganized--probably not their fault, just seems like a bad system in place. At least 3 times we heard one ask another whether anyone had waited on new diners yet. Also, as we were waiting for our food, some dude who seemed to be a bus boy brought out a tray of food, sat it on the empty table behind us and just left. We weren't sure if it was ours or what. It sat there for 5 minutes before our waitress noticed and served it to us. She apologized. Good waitress, but seemed like their job is being made harder than it should be by other variables. Won't...
