We have been here twice now. We usually go to the original Gaul &Co in Port Richmond. The first time we came here my husband came for his usual, the Witorwitowski. That’s a no-brainer. For some odd reason I ordered mussels. A lot of bars in the area have really good muscles so I assumed that they would also. When I got them you could smell the beach, if you know what I mean. They were supposed to be garlicky… They were just gritty and gross. The garlic toast that came with them didn’t even taste like it was made with real butter. My daughters and my husband’s food was great and my sons hot dog was gross. I knew we would come back but I have decided to just stick with their specialties. Fast forward we came today and my food was way better. I got the kielbasa eggrolls and fries and my son got macaroni and cheese. While the service isn’t really stellar here, the food was way better today. My friend got the Witorwitowski And they reported it was absolutely amazing. Overall good experience… Stick to their specialties and you can’t go wrong

The draft selection was decent, the food was average, the service was borderline non-existent, then the bill came... you do the math. When it comes to tip time, all the attention and smiles come out. If you're capable of doing simple math, then you'll quickly realize that a "15%" tip is actually 16.75%, a "20%" tip is really 22.5%, and a "25%" tip ends up being 28%. I don't think I have to say much more. Never again. Try passing on or politely declining the cheese for your fries, then watch heads explode onto the walls. Believe it or not, I didn't want cheese and that was my choice. It might seem harsh for a 2-star review, but I wasn't given any reason to rate this place higher than I did. My visit was based on a recommendation from another, and now that person can no longer be trusted for suggestions to drink/eat. Hopefully all others have much different experiences than I did. Things happen, maybe I went on a bad night, but that doesn't explain the false tip percentages.

Whoever thought kielbasa would ever, EVER, substitute for steak in a Philly cheesesteak must have had too much of that easy drinking Gaul Lite. But...I’m sure glad they did. The Malt house has found new harmony with kielbasa, sriracha, honey, and cooper sharp cheese. With this harmony, they have created new masterpieces with Kielbasa Eggrolls with a paintstroke of sriracha on a 3D canvas of cheese, cauliflower bites that have the consistency of chicken fingers, and the master stroke of the “Wit or Witout”, polish take on the Philly cheesesteak that subs kielbasa for steak. From the food to the atmosphere, this Malt House is a Covid oasis. Your vaccinated. There’s empty seats and fun times. Where you at? Update: 2023: still here serving a great menu with lots of meat but secretly good vegetarian dishes: Fries with Broccoli Rabe-sweet red peppers-Cooper Sharp Cheese, Cauliflower Bites that taste like chicken, and Cajun Brussel Sprouts.

Disappointed and Ignored

We went to this bar specifically to watch the NCAA tournament game between Marquette and UNM. I even made a reservation in advance and requested to be seated near a TV showing that game. Everything started off fine—we watched most of the game until, with just six minutes left and the score tied, all the TVs near us were changed. Two TVs were turned off entirely, and the others switched to a different game where one team had a 20+ point lead.

I politely asked the hostess if she could change the channel back. She said yes and went to the back, but nothing happened, and she never returned. I then told our server that the only reason we were there was to watch that specific game—we were wearing UNM gear and were clearly invested in it. She promised to fix it, but again, nothing happened, and she never came back either.

We sat there for 15 more minutes, missing the final, critical moments of the game, feeling ignored and frustrated. With the bar only half full and plenty of TVs available (many of them turned off), it felt like our request wasn’t difficult—yet we were treated as if we didn’t matter at all.

We don’t go out often, and we spent a lot of money expecting to enjoy an experience we had clearly communicated from the start. Instead, we were ignored, disregarded, and left disappointed. I’m not trying to overreact, but it was frustrating to feel like we weren’t valued as customers. We won’t...

This place was disappointing. From the moment my fiancé and I walked in to the time we left, we felt disregarded. The young lady at the front looked like we were disrupting her, and at first I couldn't understand why but then I saw her playing on her phone pretty much the whole time we were there. Whatever. Our waitress was okay, we kind of got the feeling that she'd rather be anywhere else, but I didn't want to judge since we all have bad days. I figured if the service was lacking then it must mean that the food would be good. Wrong again. Food was seasoned to death, I get you want to make food salty to encourage us to buy more drinks but good lord it tasted like they seasoned the brussel sprouts till the damn container ran out, they were overcooked and burnt as well. We got entrees and some crab fries and thought those would be better, they weren't. The brussel sprouts that came with my food were drowning in grease. The crab tasted off and again the fries were seasoned to death and the entrees were lacking in flavor. We ended up feeling sick (for a day and a half) after the whole ordeal and threw our leftovers away. The only thing good about this place is probably...

Previously wrote a review and was told to email explaining what had happened. I was told that I would be receiving a gift card because of the negative experience I had here with my friends. I deleted the review but was never emailed a gift card as promised, so I am posting my review again.

My friends and I came here on a Sunday to watch the game as they were having a 50 cent wing special. We got to malt way before the game and the crowd. Right off the bat, our waitress was unwelcoming. Our group asked right away if we could get separate checks (better to ask right away rather than wait until the end of the meal). When we asked, our waitress rolled her eyes and walked away, before our group could even finish ordering. We also tried asking our waitress about the wing special, but she seemed to be very unknowledgeable. Anytime my friends and I would order drinks, our waitress would only take one person’s drink order and then walk away before the rest of us could put in our drinks. It’s a shame because I really like the food at malt, but service like that makes me not want...
