Service and food both TERRIBLE! Very pricey, very small amount of food. Our server was ok but we are very disappointed with the Hostess. ... So we got there around 7pm and stand by the door and a lady came to the door and told us that there might not be a seat outside and it will be indoors, which we had no problem with, so we got inside and started waiting. Then few minutes later two people came to the door and the lady told them that it was full and they said it’s ok and left. But few minute later, a group of people came in and called the lady by name and she welcomed them and let them in. And we thought maybe they have reservation or something. But two minutes later, without any other person leaving the restaurant, two other people came in and the same lady let them in without asking reservation or even telling them they have to be seated inside! She then took us to our seat which was indoors and took the other people outside, which we thought was very weird knowing she just sent people back saying it’s full and told us there is no seat outside. And where we are sitting, there are at least 5 empty tables. We thought maybe they don’t have enough servers (which didn’t seem the case, because we saw a lot of servers) but why would you turn one and accept others?? ... New people keep coming and they keep taking them outside, and there is still empty tables outside, and we asked our server that we want to sit outside since there are empty tables. And they still keep seating new guests outside. And we have to call him back again to ask what he did about our seating situation, and he said the only seat left are right direct to the sun. SMH .. and don’t even get me started on the food! Lol not only it’s pricey but so small! .. we ordered Sam Smith BBQ Shrimp and The House sea food platter, we were honestly confused if we ordered appetizers when the food came. The BBQ shrimp is literally 4 shrimps and ketchup on top of it! Like Ketchup haha and the sea food platter is two shrimps and a small piece of lobster and one other thing which was so small. ... let’s just say we were VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NEVER GO BACK. And won’t...
Read moreThis was the most mixed experience I’ve had which is what prompted me to write this review. First of all, the food and the view is amazing, as shown in photos. However, in a pandemic world it just seems unnecessarily risky to have the only way to make a reservation to stand in line at noon. There were not two lines so we were standing with all the lunch-goers as well. While standing on line, the person behind us managed to get through on the phone (see my failed attempts in photo) and got a reservation. This was pretty frustrating. I am all for businesses being in demand but I think it would go a long way to streamline the process. 1) if you only take reservations day of, make a line for reservations and a separate line for dining in and have someone ready to take these reservations at 12pm (we got there at 1145 and didn’t get to make reservations until 1225). 2) only take phone calls after you deal with everyone who has chosen to stand outside in all weather so no one on the line can jump the queue. 3) fix your website so that when the waitress doesn’t bring a menu and tells you it’s online there aren’t 4 menus to choose from. 4) consider opening up online reservations. My parents ate there 20 years ago and wanted to come back but the limited time we had didn’t afford waiting on the line for 45 min, in a pandemic.
I have been living in rockport all of July, and yesterday was the first time we went to the restaurant. Would I go back? Maybe. But the hoops to jump through and the feeling of being an outsider who is not “in the know” of how to navigate the system leaves me wondering if I would do it again.
I have heard from people around town that the owner has had multiple incidents of people yelling at her each season, it’s a shame, because so much stress can be eliminated by just making it a bit easier & then everyone can just focus on the great food and...
Read moreFantastic spot. Located right over the Rockport Harbor. Ate outside and enjoyed the view, the warm breeze. Staff was friendly, welcoming, and the place was super clean and safe given current social conditions; if you are at all worried about that stuff, they did it right here. Great selection of food, many fish dishes (of course) and vegetarian offerings too. My wife and I started with the vegetarian nachos - super tasty with a spicy bean chili and a variety of raw vegetables and peppers mixed in and just enough melted cheese - a unique nacho plate, and we ate every bite. I also got a cup of the chowder and it was without a doubt the best chowder I have had in a long time. Good consistency, and seasoned/spiced really well. They should seriously consider jarring and selling it for home takeout! For entree my wife got the most generous lobster roll we'd ever seen...not served on a hotdog roll but on a fresh full-size sub/baguette roll with what seemed to be the meat of a whole lobster in light mayo dressing.. she loved it. My fish sandwich was so lightly fried it seemed almost baked.. no greasy oil.. and came with pan roasted potato slices with a great dry spice on them. Everything on our table was served right from the pan or prep table and so was nice and hot or chilled as needed to make things taste perfect. All servers and support staff were super attentive, fast with requests, and efficient without making us feel rushed. The best meal experience we have had in a long time, and set us up well for some walking and shopping and people watching afterwards around town. We will be back and probably with...
