Dairyhaus — Restaurant in Rockton Township

Very very good ice cream and the staff are always very nice. We bring the kids here all the time during the summer for ice cream. Great outdoor area to sit and eat.

However, right now I’m only giving it two stars because when they switch to their winter hours the ordering process is very difficult and irritating. They’ve made it way too complicated. You can no longer order from the walk-up window during the winter season. But the only way you can find out how to order is to either call or walk up to the front and read a sign with the instructions. Kind of defeats the purpose of curbside delivery if you have to walk up to the window to figure out how to order so you might as well just have the walk-up window ordering open.

Now they also won’t let you order over the phone. So you have to order through their website which is not user friendly and the flavors listed on the website are not always accurate. Once you order you are supposed to text a phone number with your parking spot number and your order number. Two problems with this, you don’t receive an order number on your receipt and the phone number they want you to text is a landline and you can’t text it. So you end up calling (again) and telling them what you ordered and where you parked.

We’ve done this process more than a handful of times and every time is very difficult and annoying and we end up calling more than once. We have decided to give up on going during the winter season. If they can get a better online ordering system or just order over the phone I will give this place 5 stars and start going back there in the winter.

Again, fantastic place during the summer but if you like your ice cream in the winter I would not suggest going here unless you want to get out of your car and read instructions on a window, make a couple phone calls, use a difficult website, probably make some more phone calls cause you’ve been waiting 20 minutes for your order and you call (again) and they never got the order, and you leave irritated and not...

I took some friends from out of town here since we were all craving ice cream and while there's a handful of ice cream spots in Rockford that would be closer for me to get to, I really wanted to try Dairyhäus again since it's probably been 18 years since I've last been here! That's way too long!

When ordering, I was curious about the flavor labeled as "Peter Rabbit" and asked what the flavor was supposed to be. We were told it was carrot cake with cinnamon which turned out to be absolutely delicious! As a joke, my friend's starting asking what the flavor was as well even though we all knew at this point and some of the employees were all in on the little joke and started asking each other "What is Peter Rabbit?" over and over. It might not sound as funny through text but we were all laughing so hard, I even had tears in my eyes! I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time but I was all there for it!

All the employees were super sweet and upbeat and of course funny which made the experience of coming back here all the better and I would absolutely reccomend anyone looking to get their sweet tooth fix to drive out here no matter where they're from or even if they have another icecream place close to them! Dairyhäus will be worth the trip, I guarantee it!

I'm certainly hoping to come back soon and maybe when my friends are back in town, we can all go together and hopefully all get a good laugh together again here!
