I had a horrible experience getting take out from Fontina Grille but after speaking with their owner Ali, I am updating my review. Ali isn't exactly the nicest guy you know but he shows tremendous dedication to his restaurant and his customers. He actually reads every review which isn't common and wasn't something I expected. Their food and its quality are excellent, although their bread is not that great. They are one of the better Italian restaurants in the area. I understand times are tough and restaurants are suffering heavily; however, this means Ali's staff need to step up their service now more than ever before. I was pretty upset when I wrote my initial review but Ali apologized and made me an extra order for the trouble I went through. I wish him the best and look forward to ordering from him again.
The following is what happened to my order from my perspective. It is more for Ali's staff so feel free to ignore it: My order bag was wet from one of their improperly sealed containers leaking and tore through, food fell all over my shoes, burning my foot, and making a mess on my carpet. Their telephone number did not work which is crucial in these times where many people are getting take out, so I could not call ahead to place another order. I drove all the way back with the food that fell in a double layered paper bag. The counter person was too busy chatting to help so I waited until she was available. When she stopped talking, she looked at me, knew I was there, and even then she did not ask if I needed help. The restaurant was not busy and I kept waiting until another employee walked in and was finally able to help me although he didn't seem sincere. I had to wait again for my order and drove back home where my family was waiting for a very late lunch. I spent over an hour cleaning the rest of the food off of my carpet and had to throw away my...
Read moreFirst of all I love the village. I live here and brought friends from out of town bragging about the restaurant. This is why I had to write this review. I think this restaurant has great food, but the day we went we sweat and sweat in the bar. The waitress was annoyed at our party of 6 when we asked for the happy hour menu at the bar. I really don't understand this because we spent quite a lot of money during happy hour and tip more than 20%. It seemed like we were getting the bare minimum treatment. Placed in a hot corner of the bar when we walked in and asked to sit at the bar. Not once, not a single time, were we given anything but bare treatment. Out waters were never refilled as we sweat during appetizers and meal. When I say sweat, sweat was running down one of my friends face. My back was running with sweat. This we endured and laughed ignoring no water or asks for more drinks. We had to initiate all orders. We ordered entres and were so hot couldnt finish the food. Then when we received the bill she dropped it off and just turned around. I had to ask three times for her as she ignored me walking away. Then she gave me the meanest look when she had to return and bring us the checks. Because yeah— we wanted three checks for 6 people. If uouve been here drinking and eating you know it was a large tab. But apparently it wasnt worthy of good service. I guess for me it was embarrassing because four of us live in King Farm.. Its disappointing because we are home owners in this area and frequent the village often. This experience was awful and our friends visiting felt like it was unfortunate because although the food was good the environment and service...
Read moreI wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. The house vinegarette was one of the best I've had. The Mare Monte was amazing, with the sauce stacking flavors together very well. The chicken in the dish was cooked perfectly, which unfortunately is often not the case at other establishments. The Steakhouse pizza was, without exaggeration, one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Pizza is my favorite food, and it takes something special to wow me, as I've been blessed to indulge in pies from far and wide. The combination of well cooked steak, roasted peppers, onion, and goat cheese was done to perfection. And for ONCE, a dish that has enough basil to REALLY taste it! The crust was one of perfection, and the sauce was done right (flavorful and in the right amount). My kids enjoyed the grilled chicken with broccoli and the penne with red sauce and meatball (they are very choosey with their food, so this could be the real standard by which we measure how good the food is here). Our server was attentive, and the owner brought our food out to us which gave the place a warm family feel. They were accommodating to our children and their needs, which made them feel special as well. I truly hope I have the privilege to eat here again soon, and I recommend this restaurant to anyone who finds themselves...
