This was the first time I had been to this restaurant. I got coupons in the mail and decided to try it. The inside was empty (no customers), but there were a few people working. My order was taken and prepared quickly. Good service - friendly and efficient. I asked for recommendations and the customer service rep kindly gave me some. The bean burrito (the recommended) was the best out of everything we ordered. Additionally, I got an original crispy beef taco and a chicken muchaco (this is essentially a soft taco, but slightly larger). The beef had very little seasoning. The chicken was moist and while I got a hint of the flavor, I would have preferred it to have more. The refried baked beans in the burrito tasted like baked beans and since I already know I like that, it tasted good. Nothing particularly special about the flavoring with that. The salsa provided (red sauce) was the best out of everything. It was slightly spicy and had some chunks of veggies. For all tacos, lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I'd recommend moving the cheese down in the burritos so that it melts on the meat. One of my largest issues with cheese being on top (which I agree can be somewhat visually attractive), is that it falls right off and you end up picking the cheese off the paper instead of eating it with the tacos. Generally, the food was slightly greasy.
The employees did not wear masks, but I was not offended by this. This is Texas and I appreciate that we have choice...
Read moreBack in the day, I was a semi-Bueno Head! New Normal has taken a toll. Went back for the new Nolan Ryan Beef Burger Quesadilla. The photo in their ad made my mouth water! $6.99 is reasonable for a great burger, and my first bite got me excited. As I munched and worked thru it, I began to analyze this new creation. A whole, round burger of good meat, delicious ranch dressing, lettuce, Pico de Gallo, cheese sauce, between pairs of flour tortillas with melted cheese between. It's slips down-hill from there. I tried to hold and eat it by folding it in the paper wrapper. I literally chased that patty right out of its tasty corral. My hands looked like Lucy's feet after she tried making juice for wine. I had to go wash-up before I could get my car keys out of my pocket. Re-design the Presentation! Cut the Patty into 2 semi-circles. Fold each of the pairs of flour tortillas with cheese into 2 semi-circles. Insert the meat into each and garnish with Pico and lettuce. Serve with the ranch dressing in a salsa cup. Or provide a lariat with roping lessons to each customer. See you...
Read moreWe usually like Taco Bueno over Taco Bell. However, one night they had a computer glitch and double charged us on our credit card on an order. My wife notice the double transaction the next day while banking on line and reviewing purchases. It was nearly impossible to get a manager who incidentally yelled at me saying it was "impossible" to accept responsibility over the phone or to even look at the sells receipts. I finally went back to the store and saw the cashier who remembered me and I showed them the receipt. They said it was not possible to review the sells reports. But fortunately a young female shift manager took the responsibility and pulled the cash from the drawer and reimbursed me. I emailed corporate offices and they did not acknowledge the mistake nor apologized for the inconvenience. They said they would "look" into it. Several months later still no response. There's no telling how many folks they may ripped off that night. I am betting it occurs throughout the entire fast food industry....
