Normally I'll give a restaurant at least 2 tries before giving a negative review, especially a new restaurant; but this experience ensured we will not be giving it a second try.
The Spring rolls are delicious but that's the only positive thing I can say. After ordering, we were sitting at our table happily awaiting our food when a busser came by to clear the table next to ours. He bumped into our baby in her highchair at the end of our table. No big deal, he saw her, I scooted her a little further away, problem solved. Nope, then he proceeds to sling bleach water all over my 6 month old no apology, nothing. Our server happened to see me wiping it off our child and then pointed it out to the guy saying look you got water all over the baby. The guy shrugged an walked off. Now for the food. We ordered a sushi roll each, my husband got a hibachi meal and I got the Pad Thai (I've missed thai food) no avocado in the rolls due to a food allergy. The sushi rolls come first, one with avocado. Again, no big deal, we've worked in restaurants, stuff happens. We flag down our server. While asking what was wrong my husband touched the aforementioned sushi to show him there was avocado in it. The server acted upset that he was touching the food since it was still perfectly good (were they really going to give it to another table after it being served to another customer?). New sushi comes out, my pad thai has already been delivered. After 20 more minutes still no hibachi. We gave up after this and asked for a manager....I never have done that in my life. The manager proceeds to laugh and smile at everything. I'll even give him credit to say that it was nervous laughter. But either way...its just not okay.
Suffice it to say, this was an all around bad experience. I was so excited to have sushi and thai in RM. Oh well, we will keep driving to Wake Forest...
Read moreThis is a new restaurant that I found on Yelp during my visit back home. There is ample parking in the large parking lot shared by other department stores. My cousin and I dined in for her Birthday celebration. It's nicely decorated inside. There weren't any pleasantries upon entering.
After sitting down we were taken aback that this Japanese restaurant is not serving alcohol, not even sake. Strange! They start you out with soup which was a nice warm treat. Starters: we had the calamari and pork bun. No complaints. The pork was tender and flavorful. Sushi: Tokyo sushi was delicious. The second sushi roll I ordered came out with avocado in it, which I'm allergic to and I made this very clear and asked that the avocado be replaced with cucumber during ordering. There wasn't any urgency to potentially cause an allergic reaction. This is very concerning for me since allergic reactions are life-threatening.
My cousin ordered a noodle bowl and asked for extra cheese at the time of ordering. The cheese was completely disregarded and came without the cheese. She asked for the cheese again. Then the server was like we don't put cheese in that dish. Why not say this during order processing? It was never brought out until the mix-up with my sushi, which at that time her noodles were cold.
Everyone seems confused more than apologetic. The empathy was delayed by scrambling around trying to find out the mix-up instead of apologizing for the mistake. The price of that roll was removed and towards the end there were apologies. This restaurant can use a lot of coaching and development on how to provide basic customer service to its customers. I also feel that this restaurant opened prematurely and should've worked a Lil harder on the logistics of the Alcohol license because at a minimum they should have sake at a Japanese restaurant. Not...
Read moreHonestly was a bit of a struggle to give it a 4 instead of a 5. We got a order that included the sushi deluxe and some drunken noodles w/ shrimp, chicken, steak and extra spicy. First thing we ate was the spicy tuna roll that came with the sushi deluxe. That was great, a nice little level of spice, so it got me excited about the drunken noodles. Opening the noodles revealed some very generously sauced traditional noodles. Great portion of meat and veggies. Smelled really good. The taste really surprised me. The chicken and steak tasted amazing and very fresh. Shrimp was a little chewy, but it's to be expect with it sitting in the heat for as long as it does. Noodles cooked perfectly and the sauce had great flavor. My only complaint about the drunken noodles was that it fell flat on its face on heat. Like, not spicy at all even though we ordered extra spicy. I tried to order some chili oil but there was a little miscommunication with me and the gentlemen that gave me the order. We live far from the area, but will be dropping by again on our drive through Great job on the food, the cooking staff seems to have a solid grasp on what they...
