My experience at JJ's Bar and Grill has been repeatedly and without exception, horrible experiences. I have tried to go to this place several times, and every time it just gets consistently worse.
The first time I went, I sat at the bar for 15 minutes and no one asked to get me a drink. Several men walked up after I did and were given service immediately. I'm not sure if it's because I am a female or if I was just overlooked....repeatedly.... but after 15 minutes of no service, I went to another bar.
My most recent experience was even more upsetting than that. I am a manager at a hotel bar and the people I went with was a bar manager at a dive bar in town and a Wal-Mart vendor. We ordered our initial drinks and were sitting at a booth. We watched as another customer dropped and shattered a glass ketchup bottle. Three servers walked up and each said "I'm not cleaning that" and walked away. Finally the customer approached a server about the issue and they gave him a towel to clean it up with. Then we sit for fifteen minutes with empty drinks, 7 times a server walked by and we were never asked if we wanted another drink. The 7th server that walked by, picked up our empty drinks and walked away without a word. Then, another customer bumped into the Wal-Mart vendor that was with us and spilled his drink on the table. We had to ask three different servers if we could get something to clean it up, were ignored the first two times, and finally a manager gave us 2 napkins to clean up 8 oz of liquid.
The food is good, but the service is absolutely awful. I will never return and I will no longer be recommending JJ's Bar and Grill to my guests visiting from out of town. I would rather go to a hole in the wall place where I can receive ANY service at all than be constantly...
Read moreFirst I asked for 3 shots of vodka in a glass with ice water. I was served 3 shots with a few melted ice chips. I told her, I asked for 3 shots in a glass of ice water. She brought me the same drink back with a half full water and no ice. Told me I could pour my drink in the water. I thought either I'm speaking in another language or the server is clueless, or the bar tender is. Then I ate 3 bites of what they call "Nachos", which consists of this platter of completely flavorless chicken and beef, which had no difference in taste on top of refried beans with sour cream and a few cheese sprinkles. They give you a basket of hard unsalted chips to scoop into the flavorless topping. Which is NOT WHAT NACHOS ARE IN ANY TYPICAL RESTERAUNT! After 3 bites my gut hurt so bad I thought, "Oh Lord". I asked the server if this comes with Tums anti-acid? She said, No, but Alot of customers ask the same thing. And laughed. I told the manager and she removed it from my bill. Then when I paid she gave my debit card and bill to the dude I was with. His name wasn't on the card. I ended up paying for his meal, and a drink they Never got right. I Don't get to eat out anymore Ever, bc of physical disabilities and a transportation issue. So THIS EXPERIENCE WAS A TOTAL LET DOWN. I'LL NEVER GO TO JJ'S...
Read moreSo the wings looked tasty as did the street tacos. I had neither... they were the dishes the patrons sitting next to me had. LOL. I had forgettable chicken strips and fries with BBQ sauce, but the food was irrelevant. I ended up here since this was one of the few places in the area that served food and beer and was open past 10pm in the middle of the week. Actually, the kitchen closed at 10pm and I had to get an order in quickly (that's what I get for rolling into town so late). The locals were cool and welcoming. That always makes a bar and grill visit worthwhile if you're an out of towner. The clientele was a true mix of people which I love seeing and helps keep my faith in humanity and coexistence. My bartender was quick and attentive, even with most seats at the bar occupied. The mostly female staff was super friendly and incredibly attractive. The lighting was the typical bar dimness, but worked for this setting. Music often came back to early 2000s metal, then some pop punk, indie rock, and hip hop were sprinkled in. There were a few new country (not nu country) tunes in the mix, but clearly was not the main genre. I wanted to stay longer, but it was a long day. Next time I'm in the area I'll be sure...
