Absolutely horrendous of an experience!
We were a party of 9 & my mom specifically asked for this restaurant for her 68th bday.
We arrived on time at 4:30pm, a time we chose so it would not be crowded & avoid the chaos of a busy dinner service. We were seated promptly & our 1st drink order taken quickly, however, after that it was a quick downward spiral.
First, Brandon our server was not attentive to our table, he didn't check in, we had to chase him down to get a simple refill (which happened 1 time in 2.25hrs) but the most distrubing was that he didn't bring us our entire meals & we could not get him to help rectify.
Our meals were staggered out to our table little by little that at the 2 hour mark dome of us were done while others were just getting their food. Even those who got their meal got incomplete meals, for instance: I got the "Chopper" which described having sautéed mushrooms, the mushrooms were not on the plate so it was a dry unseasoned hockey puck of a hamburger steak & barely cooked bacon. Besides the missing mushrooms, I & another guest didn't get their potato side. On TOP of the missing ingredients & direct sides our table didn't get the beans as included in the meal
So here we are paying $25-$40ish for a meal that is suppose to come w/ salad, bread, beans, protein & choice of side. The entire table only got 80% of the meal w/ some only getting 50% of the meal.
Besides missing items, the food was DISGUSTING! A steakhouse shld know how to cook a steak, that's their gig, but the cooks don't know what salt & pepper is let alone how to cook to a customer's ordered temperature. Those who ordered medium well got rare/blue OR well done to the point of jerky.
We also cld not get Brandon to bring us waters or keep simple drinks like ice tea refilled.
I felt so bad for my mom, it was her bday & she ordered prime rib, but what was broughtout originally was not prime rib, we didn't knw wht cut it was. She had to wait all over again to get her desired meal which arrived at the 2 hr mark & she ate a bit but it was not appetizing & we were running out of time as party guests had to leave.
We brought a family tradition ice cream dessert, I told the staff it was ice cream, we had to ask the manager to grab so we cld do dessert b4 guests left. Brandon brought the dessert to table w/ small plates & NO SPOONS. He half fast dropped at table & left, leaving us to eat w/ the forks we used for dinner :-(
My poor mom got cheated out of the bday song, candles lit to blow a bday wish, terrible bday dinner & overall a disappointing experience.
In this economic climate restaurant's need to be on their top game as its a luxury option for families to eat out. The expendable income has dwindled we are all conscientious where we spend our money now. To pay over $300 for a meal right now is a big deal & any customer would expect the basic in service & to enjoy a meal as described on the menu.
I do want to recognize the manager, she was walking around asking tables about their experience. She brought 2 potatoes to take home for my missing side, as well, gave us a discount on her own fruition. We appreciate the discount, but still paid over $300 for the worst service I've ever experienced, all 9 of us getting shafted the full meal as ordered & most of all, all 9 of us having main dishes that we could not eat (not even salt on table nor steak sauce cld help!)
We are still so disappointed & can't shake the feeling of...
Read moreI'm so sad to be posting this as our family loves Cattlemans. We have never had a bad experience eating in Redding or Petaluma. Last night on our way home from a Giants game we were excited to learn there was now a Cattlemans in Rohnert Park. We got there earlier than our reservation, but were able to sit on the patio. She handed us four menus and sent us outside. Our table was not set. None of the tables were set. No salad bowls, silverware or even a rack with salt/pepper. The table was empty. But our server arrived and we placed our order. About 10 minutes later he served us our drinks, left a bowl of salad on the table and walked away to take the order at another table. We had no plates or silverware. After waiting about ten minutes, thinking he was busy and would be back, I attempted to find our server. I asked the hostess if someone could get us plates and silverware. Shortly after a girl came out and grabbed plates and silverware off a nearby counter. She seemed annoyed, left the dishes and walked away. My wife's bowl was splashed with what looked like water, but it had pooled with dust from sitting outside. My wife grabbed a bread plate and ate her salad off a tiny bread plate. We still hadn't been brought bread. We saw the girl who brought the plates and asked if she could bring us some bread. Obviously annoyed, she said she would tell our server. A while later he finally brought some bread. It took just under and hour to get our food. My wife got the filet with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were cold and the filet looked like a chunk of meat they tried to make look like a filet. My wife ate a few bites and didn't finish. She said her potatoes tasted like reheated instant potatoes, she ordered her steak medium and it was very rare. I ordered the prime rib, it had no flavor and was completely overcooked. The center was brown. My wife gave me her filet, but I couldn't eat it either, it was too rare for me. The kids ate sirloin and salmon with fries. The salmon was ok, but the sirloin was tough like shoe leather. The fries were cold and mostly left untouched. We ended up taking all the uneaten meat home to our dog. This was the worst experience we have ever had at Cattlemans. Since it was virtually impossible to get someone to deal with simple things like plates and silverware, we just decided to pay and leave and not return. I will say our server was a really nice man, he looked to be trying and he did tell us he wasn't familiar with patio service. We felt bad for him and left a small tip, but not 20% which we would usually leave after eating at cattlemans. In the service industry your employees should be engaging and smiling. What we noticed was it was difficult to get the attention of any employees who came out on the patio. They failed to make eye contact or even smile. Frankly, most seemed to be annoyed by their job, which made us feel uncomfortable asking for things that should have been provided without asking. We didn't read reviews before we came, I wish we had. Our experience does not appear to be isolated. I wish you luck and hope you get things together, because this restaurant is not indicative of the...
Read moreI like Cattlemens. Let me say that from the start. I have to say however that the service I have received from the Rohnert Park location has not impressed me in the slightest.
The taste of the food is fine. That I cannot complain about. The service has reached a point however that I will probably not return to the Rohnert Park location.
I wanted to say that it’s only when I have ordered takeout that there have been issues. But in reviewing with family members the various times we have visited the restaurant; I have been reminded of at least one issue that occurred while dining in.
To try and be brief, I will list most of the issues as bullet points:
Missing toppings for baked potatoes like sour cream or bacon bits when they have been requested
Adding toppings that were specifically asked to be removed, such as chives
Missing extras such as butter for the bread or any bar-b-que sauce when we asked for extra
Asking for a steak to be cooked medium and arriving home to find it was well done.
Missing mushrooms from a chopped steak.
The dining-in issue occurred when we had specifically gone to the restaurant for Prime Rib. We had placed our orders and had been served our salad when they came out and told us that they didn’t have any Prime Rib cooked less than medium well as there had been a mistake made the previous night in the daily preparation. If they knew that they did not have any medium or medium rare cuts, why did they not tell us when we ordered?
Tonight’s issue is really the final straw for us. My daughter ordered a T-Bone steak. Now as T-Bone should be nearly equal parts sirloin and New York strip. The steak we received was almost all sirloin (the cheaper side) and just enough of the New York strip to cover the bone. We basically paid $10 more for a bit more sirloin than you get when you order just a straight up sirloin steak. Oh, we got the bone too, I guess.
I’ve tried calling and to the store’s credit we have received compensation cards at times but I could probably save money by just going to the store and cooking the dinner myself. It’s just not worth it...
