This location has gone through several changes over the years. Back when it was Latitude, my son worked there as a pastry chef, and we visited often. I loved the contrast between the elegant indoor dining and the relaxed outdoor patio. I still remember evenings by the fire pit, roasting marshmallows while listening to live music—such a great vibe.
Later, when it became Bear Republic, I stopped in a few times. It was fine, but nothing particularly memorable.
Today, I’m happy to say I had a much better experience at Water Hawk Lake Club. We sat outside overlooking Roberts Lake, where the abundant shade made it perfectly comfortable even on a warm afternoon. Our server, Tara, was wonderful—she let me sample a few ciders before I chose my drink, which I really appreciated.
The menu seems to change often, and not everything listed was available that day. My friend ordered a hamburger, while I went for the veggie falafel burger. I’d read in other reviews that burgers here can be inconsistent in doneness, and that proved true—my friend asked for her burger pink, but it came out fully cooked through. She still enjoyed the flavor, though. My falafel burger was absolutely delicious—messy, but worth it. Both burgers came with great fries, and overall we were very happy with our meals.
The setting is definitely a highlight. There’s tons of outdoor seating with beautiful lake views, plus a spacious indoor dining room and a bar that straddles both the inside and outside of the restaurant. It feels open, lively, and inviting.
I’d love to come back on a weekend evening when there’s live music—this seems like the perfect spot to relax with a drink, enjoy good food, and...
Read moreCame here for dinner over the past weekend as a party of 6. Made a reservation 2 days prior and were excited to try out this new spot! First red flag came when our host sat us in the one table completely baked in the sun, mind you there was a completely shaded table right next to that, who was given to a party that arrived AFTER us (same host). The water they serve comes with no ice, and you have to actually ask for a bucket of ice for the table. A strange choice for a place by the water where you can "lounge" and "cool down"... I would like to add that our server was really nice and did check in on us a few times. We ordered a few appetizers, the crostini and burrata and the corn dish. The servings come across as something you'd experience at a fine dining restaurant. It does not match well with the main courses being heavier food like burgers or flatbreads. I personally ordered the burger and though it looked amazing, I ordered the patty "with pink" and it had a burnt taste to it still. The only real highlight was how beautiful the restaurant looked, but it's hard to enjoy when everything else was subpar... I'm willing to try this place again once they've further established themselves but, for a first impression, the experience was less than...
Read moreWe were welcomed by three great hostess who sat us quickly by the lake. The atmosphere is perfect; on the water, great vibe and live music.
Our server was great, arrived quickly and took our order from the very small menu.
The beer selection was pretty good, and the beer glases were chilled.
We started with the corn appitizers. This dish was rather odd and not much to it but about a half an ear of corn in sauce.
My husband had the burger and I had the soft shell crab BLT.
The food arrived, our beer glasses were empty, the food runner didn't ask us if we wanted "another round". So we had the water.
We never saw our server again until the bill came. She was doing the best she could, but you could tell the restaurant was short staffed.
The BLT was pretty tasty, but not very warm. The burger had a great chard flavor, but, not a lot of flavor.
If your looking for a great atmosphere, this is the place. If your looking for great food, we might need to give them so more time.
This place has so much potential and I look forward to doing back in a few months to see how it has evolved.
Total bill for lunch was...
