Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Rolla

I hate to write a bad review for this place because I used to look forward to coming here. I fell in love with the bourbon street steak. When it is cooked medium rare the flavor is monumental. The last 10 times I have been here I always come with an optimistic attitude that they will get it right this time. Needless to say I have come less and less frequently. Today was my worst experience of all. When the steak arrived I noticed it's odd cut. I cut into one side and it seemed close enough that I could eat it. Although my next cut was on the other side and it was well done... It tasted like lower quality ground beef. Another thing I noticed was that the steak was very small. Closer to a 6 oz steak than the advertised 9oz. I checked the menu and there was a 7oz and a 9oz. They charged me for the 9 oz. I ordered loaded mashed potatoes and they gave me regular potatoes. The waitress took back my whole plate to switch out the potatoes. At which time when she returned the steak had cooked even more. I showed her the steak and she asked if I wanted her to take it back. I explained to her that I was just very hungry and needed to eat. She said she would have a talk with the cooks. My girlfiriend who was a waitress for years noted her insincerity and deflectioin technique to me. I understand it is busy and the waitress probably gets docked for each steak that goes back but I would of put a little more effort into trying to convince the customer I care.

Second my 10 year old petite daughter ordered an adult shrimp meal and salad and it came out in a very big bowl with hardly any quantity of food. I ended up giving her half of my 6 oz steak...

My girlfriend seemed very happy with her meal as it was a very large amount of food for half cost of my steak or my daughters shrimp meal.

The manager did come around and asked how our meal was. I let him know of the problems and he offered to dock the steak. I told him I ate it so I will pay for it. I just wish this place would do a better job of quality control. Shame won't be eating her again...

UPDATE- Denise the General Manager reached out to me immediately this morning. She was so respectful && professional. She was so kind && nice. She listened to everything I had to say. Apologized and said that’s not what they strive for at all & she will look into the issues on weekend staff. She also gave us a gift card to use at Rolla Applebees to give them a chance to improve she said. I am very pleased && appreciative of how she responded so quickly & how she handled the whole situation. Thank you so much Denise for being so kind, understanding, & helpful. We ordered $100 worth of food & my parmesan sirloin and shrimp looked like this when we arrived back home. I order this every time and it never looks like this. Everything is melted perfectly like it’s supposed to be unless I order take out. This is the second time now this has happened. I shouldn’t have to spend $100 on food then come back home and have to put it on the oven to try and get it melted. I also order well done steaks and every time I order take out I have to cook my steak more when I get home. I ordered take out a few days ago in the middle of the week and it was absolutely perfect! Everything was completely right and perfect! But every time we order on the weekends something is wrong. The mozzarella sticks were cold the cheese wasn’t melted at all. It’s not because I live to far because when I ordered 2 days ago everything was still warm and perfect when I made it back home. This is one of my favorite meals to order. We have a 1 & 1/2 year old so sometimes it’s easier to just order take out but I’m sad to say I will not be ordering anymore take out. Trying to melt the cheese on top over cooked my steak and shrimp and now I can’t even eat it. So I just wasted money. So...

My aunt and I went here since it was one of the few places in town that still had an open dining area. We were welcomed with a smile by the hostess and seated quickly. Once our server, Ayn, brought our drinks she asked if we were ready to order. Not having been there for several years we needed a little extra time. Instead of walking off she asked if she could get us a salad or anything.

After a few more minutes my aunt ordered the Steak and Parmesan with onion rings and I ordered a classic double bacon cheese burger and seasoned fries. We were both half expecting to leave there hungry, but we were greatly surprised. i half expected a small burger, kinda like you get at McDonalds or something like that. What I got instead was a massive cheeseburger. My aunts Steak and Parmesan looked absolutely delicious. I was even greatly surprised when she ordered her steak medium, she actually got a steak cooked medium.This is not something we've run into at the other places in town where you can order steak. The food was absolutely amazing and I was happily proven wrong and did not leave there hungry at all.

In the end, the service provided by Ayn was really above and beyond. We never had to worry about running out of drinks. She also made sure everything was alright every time she passed us. Over all, I have to say I was truly impressed with the food and the service. Great...
