**UPDATED:
All previous mentioned issues have been alleviated! Great meal, fantastic sauce and wonderful staff! I will come again!
Kyoto used to be a restaurant on N Bishop (US 63) where Jimmy Johns is located now. They recently opened at this location on 101 S Rucker. First impression is that there really isn't an outdoor sign, but since they just opened it may still be on the way.
The interior decorating is nice. The process of ordering is cafeteria style, you pay and order at the front and then go sit down and wait for your meal to be brought to you. They also have a waiting area for To-Go orders.
I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Japanese Bento with Fried Rice. It appears most orders come with 2 spring rolls, although this is not advertised or mentioned on their menu.
The chicken was cooked well, albeit a little dry but that is understandable with a Teriyaki style meal. One thing that I wished for was more sauce. There was barely any Teriyaki at all, and surprisingly most of the chicken barely tasted of Teriyaki. I had to scrounge for Teriyaki sauce out of the crevices of the serving plate I had received. One suggestion I have for the business is adding more Teriyaki or offering an additional cup of the sauce with the meals to allow people to sauce it up more if they wish.
The fried rice had a certain lightness to it. Definitely more on the fluffy side in terms of texture. The spring rolls were also good.
The wait time was rough. We arrived at the restaurant at approximately 11:25. We didn't receive our food until 12:50. That is basically a 1 hour and 30 minute wait. Definitely not a restaurant to go to if you need a quick lunch break. The times may improve with time, but as of right now it is pretty extreme.
Portion sizes are generous, with plenty of food included to sate most hungry patrons. The entire establishment appears to offer environmentally friendly food packaging and utensils. Water is provided free of charge from a water station with whole lemon slices in the water for flavoring.
I look forward to trying this establishment again, and hopefully the wait will be shorter!
Good luck to...
Read moreI came and received some of the best service I have ever received . If I could have afforded giving her 100.00, I would have and I work in the food industry, so I am not easily impressed. She was very knowledgeable about the menu items that they contained, etc . She was very atentive despite being busy and it being much like a cafeteria type of setting. She was helpful, patient, kind, and when she realized I hadn't, tried alot of the items she made it a point to allow me the opportunity to try several flavors utilized so I can now order more than terriaki without fear I am going to hate what I ordered. I have to eat white meat and after a while everything tastes the same and gets old . She will never know how great of a service she provided to me tonight. I can not thank her enough. As for the esthetics It was absolutely adorable in there. The food came quickly and was great all the way around. Also, I noticed she remembered everyone's name who walked through that door . Every person through there during the hour I was there was a regular it seemed and they all loved her and the food .(time frame was Not due to them- I eat slow and was wasting time.) I will definitely be spreading the word and...
Read moreFirst of all, the hostess was very friendly and apologetic. That being said, I received a text saying my order was ready for pickup while I was waiting inside. At least 10 minutes went by before my food was brought out. Arrived at my hotel and was ready to eat…cashew chicken, spicy, with carrots and eggplant (or squash, can’t remember what the menu said) and brown sauce. 1-counted 3 cashews. 2- hardly any vegetables. 3-chicken was dry. 4-Where was the sauce? Also ordered spring rolls. Every spring roll I’ve ever had, the vegetables inside were crunchy. These were mushy and the dipping sauce was a glorified ketchup mixture. Ended up throwing more than half of my food in the trash! One good thing, plenty of nice plants to gaze at while you’re waiting to be seated or waiting for...
