I have been a patron for 15+ years. The espresso is great and for the most part consistently pulled. I enjoy a plain latte most of the time. This is the best espresso in town, however, over the past few years, it's slowly become unreliable. Several times over the past few months, the dark roast has been out for multiple days. At one time, it was out for a couple of weeks. They've also had issues keeping their lids stocked so they have to use flimsy and ill fitting lids in the interim which has led to more than one disaster. There is clearly an ordering issue regularly happening. The owner should be present to make sure this type of thing isn't happening. The last thing that has really gotten out of control is the cleanliness. The baseboards are so filthy, the floors are filthy, there's dust everywhere... The place needs an overhaul. The owner is never there anymore. He used to be there nearly every time I went. I used to live out of state and would come in once or twice a year and I'd still manage to see him every time. Now, in three years, I've seen him once, and I go multiple times a week. The staff says he's almost never there. College students with no long term investment in the success or demise of this coffee shop are the ones running it. At this point, the giddy goat is running on its good name, but the experience is greatly diminished from what it once was. They are even losing their reliability in espresso pours with the newest employee. Every time he makes my drinks, they are off. I hate to write a review like this, but Ben needs to get in there, get it cleaned up, and get the staff in order. He needs to show some appreciation to his long time customers. Almost the entire staff is leaving in two weeks, and they haven't trained a single replacement. It's clearly becoming more disorganized by the day. So sad. Would love Rolla to have a nice coffee shop where it's comfortable and clean to go sit for a while. The giddy goat could be so much more. They could partner with crepe escape or have live music once in a while. They could have a corner with some toys for young kids. They could clean up the building a little... It's such a shame to see what it's becoming because there's is so...

The employees who have cycled through are always knowledgeable, friendly, fun and welcoming. They literally make the place.
However, it's very apparent that it's not well managed or maintained anymore. The flooring hasn't had a good mop in ages and needs to be resurfaced with a little protective polish. There are floor panels literally disconnecting from the rest, making slip and trip hazards. Glue it down or redo the whole floor.
There's a table in the back that just seems to be a raised wood pallet, but that can't be cleaned or or wiped off ever since it's so rough! I've watched employees try to clean customer spills from it, and it just doesn't work. Get a better table to replace that junk!
I highly doubt the couches have been shampooed and they've been there for YEARS now. Rumor has it that there's bed bugs on them so they need to be scrapped anyway.
The place just is dirty when you really take a look around (windows, window sill, floor, floor boards, shelves, tiles...). The owner needs to pay more attention to detail. The bathroom is way behind the times too. At least buy a new toilet, seat and upgrade the sink. Sheesh!
Additionally, having run the business for 10+ years now --- there shouldn't be issues with keeping up on stock this often. There are plenty of forewarnings and anticipations to expect nowadays to plan ahead for any delays in inventory/shipping.
Customers AND employees are tired of waiting on the owner/manager to do their job!
The owner has kept their prices low and ignored inflation for the sake of customers, but it's time to rethink that strategy because you have the shop to fix and work on. Plus, employees to take better care of, appreciate and pay more than...
Read moreHaven't been here in a while, but i got a text saying i had six stars that were about to expire.
When i got there the lady behind the counter asked if I wanted to pay cash or card and i said points.
She told me that she couldn't do points, mentioned that i probably got a text, and then told me she would have to tell her manager.
Here is the part that chafes though, if she already knew about the texts, why would she have to inform her manager because of me and not the other people who mentioned the text first.
She was very nice and polite other than that.
The whole thing just seems like a bait and switch scam.
Between that and the responses from the owner to negative reviews, i will probably go to Emma's from now on and encourage you to do the same.
Damn shame too, the nuclear waste...
