Let me start off by saying I've been wanting to try this place for a long time, and finally got the chance to today. Now to my review of Koi. From the moment my aunt and I walked in I immediately noticed the atmosphere, it was a really well decorated restaurant. The atmosphere was very peaceful, even the music seemed to be traditional Japanese/Chinese music. That is something you rarely find any more. The hostess/server sat us immediately toward the back and across from one of the hibachi grills, which sadly, probably because of the current situation was not in use. The server was very polite and made sure to check on us several times throughout our lunch, which is another thing I really look for in a good place to eat. My aunt and I both ordered the Chicken Tempura Bento Box for lunch. Honestly, when I ordered I wasn't expecting a lot because I had never ordered Bento Boxes before and I wasn't exactly sure what all was in one. However, once we got our lunch we could see several pieces of tempura, both vegetable and chicken, rice, goyza, and California rolls. The food it self was absolutely delicious. The vegetable tempura was really well made and pleasing to the pallet. The chicken tempura was also just as pleasing. The one thing I through out the lunch I wasn't sure about was the goyza, mainly because I hadn't had it before. But it was really tasty and really well made. The best part was the California rolls. you could tell there was seaweed in the rolls, but the seaweed wasn't overpowering. They were absolutely delicious. I have to give a tremendous amount of praise for Koi. If you are ever looking for a nice place to eat a mix of Japanese and Chinese food you have to give these guys a shot, you won't be disappointed.

What a beautiful restaurant this is. Just as we are leaving Missouri, this beautiful state finds a way to say goodbye to us by giving us one more experience nestled in this little town called Rolla. Accidentally we stopped our drive to let some storms pass through. We Googled for food and Walah... KOI pops up as a suggestion. It appeared to be a slow day for them since the Hibachi bar was not operating but we were invited to a table. The table was near the bathroom entrance but that was no problem at all. They had a nice divider (see pictures) that allowed the buffer area so as to not feel like we got the bad table nor do people coming out feel uncomfortable. The restaurant is beautifully designed. Everywhere you look you can see the Japanese touch in the decor but done right. Not overwhelming. The bathrooms for me were the most beautiful I have seen in a long time! I love the dark colors. It is relaxing. My only problem was not having access to paper towels just so I can open the door after washing my hands. Especially for men. Men on average do not wash their hands after using #1. That's a fact, so.. the door handle is always dirty anyway. Please please add paper towels. Back at the table, our food arrived smelling amazing. My daughter's tofu was especially good. We also had sushi, also great! I would love to go again on our way back to visit Missouri stop by and get the full experience at the hibachi bar. Places like this are hard to come by nowadays since people put a price on time over quality of food so, more and more fast food places overtake real quality restaurants. Please continue offering your awesome food and keep on offering the experience!!

I had to come to Rolla unexpectedly on a family emergency. Though a very sudden and hectic day. I stopped at Koi on a whim, and I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is very clean and upscale. The room has an excellent atmosphere that blends a modern but traditional blend of Chinese and Japanese atmosphere. The menu is diverse in the best way. The sushi is amazing. Though I didn't have the hibachi on my visit, the buzz from a large group next to me has me to imagine that it does not disappoint. The fish tasted fresh, and the sushimi and sushi was astonishing. So much I had to order 4 rolls. With one to go. Anybody who wants some really amazing sushi, hibachi or just wants to get out and experience a traditional clean atmosphere thats refreshing with great tasty adult drinks to share. Koi is your stop. 10/10 will come again!

I don't normally do this but I'm pretty upset. Tim and I went to Koi for dinner for date night. We always go there despite the fact that the service is not always good and they almost always mess up at least 1 of our sushi rolls by putting avocado when asked not to (Tim's allergic!). The manager has never done anything when he was told they always mess it up. Tonight though, we ordered an appetizer and sushi. After a while our server brought our sushi. I said we have an appetizer we haven't gotten yet too. She said did you want it before your sushi? I started answering saying it's an appetizer so... And she interrupted saying it's not my fault, it's the kitchen. I laughed it off and said ok whatever. (Another table that came in 5 minutes after we did got their appetizers before we got our sushi!) A few minutes later a male server comes and slams down the plate with our appetizer and walks off. We are about halfway done with our meal and the male server comes and asks if we need more water. We both have full mouths and shake our heads no. He puts the bill on the table and stands there and waits. Tim put his card in the holder and the guy walks away. Tim and I start discussing the fact that we never tip less than 20% but this is ridiculous. He brings back the bill and again stands there waiting for Tim to fill it out! Tim puts a zero for tip as this guy is hovering over his shoulder. We get up and start to leave and the guy confronts Tim asking why he put zero. He forgot to write a number. Tim said no I didn't, you were both rude that's why I left zero tip. The guy kept arguing until Tim said to the manager is this guy for real? He was rude along with the other server and now he's arguing with me over no tip? The manager tells the guy to back off basically who keeps talking and we had to walk out to the manager saying sorry. I love sushi but I'm never going...
