TATER PATCH IN ROLLA!!!Second time eating here in 2 months and got the same waitress with dark hair glasses and tattoos named Jennifer and same horrible service. She does not refill drinks or give you silverware nor any of her time but will bring you a receipt during the END of your meal and then try to give you service so she gets her TIP. The other waitress see this and end up waiting on us. As a retired sous chef I try to be forgiving but when your waitress has a CIGARETTE tucked behind her left ear and she puts the food real close to her nose while handing one their plate it's a little unsettling. Tater Patch may be Iconic and there are some good servers as we watch two women hustle tables like a Pro but Jennifer isn't one of them she stands at the computer screen or hangs out by the bar gossiping loudly and we sit with no drinks or silverware and she sees us plainly. So just know beware when going out to spend 50.00 on dinner to ask to be seated not in her area if you see her or be moved to another servers area . Again second time eating here in 2 months with yucky foods and lack of service and as a food critic and prior sous chef I know how to make a dining experience pleasant tater patch has been told already once of her horrible mannerism and we watched her do this to her other tables as well and noted their reactions which was the same as Ours. Tater PaTch should listen to their customers like me that have been coming to this Bar since 1985 and with new ownership over the years changes have been good but they need micro managed better here. We retired and moved an hour away but return to the area to dine at a few hometown gems after seeing pictures of visually yummy PLATED foods that we YET have gotten i am again left feeling neglected. Sorry to say all this but our Money will be spent at RICH'S burgers in St James or Sullivan where the service and FOODS served go beyond GREAT SERVICE.not happening at the Rolla Tater Patch..it's a hit and miss consumers BEWARE!! Not all pretty food pictures are Real!! AND avoid this Sticky floored bar for foods it's all HYPE....
Read moreThis is a baked potato restaurant that does not have in stock actual butter. The attached photo is the margarine they give you when you order a baked potato. Furthermore, they can't be bothered to brew their own tea and it very much tastes as such. Do not order the iced tea. If you are from Texas and looking for a chicken fried steak, you are not going to find it here. You're going to find country fried steak, which is not at all the same thing batter-wise and you will be disappointed. For some reason they can hand batter the pork tenderloin, but they can't do so with beef, inexplicably. The bourbon Burger was fine, as was the pulled pork baked potato. BUT AGAIN, THIS IS A BAKED POTATO RESTAURANT THAT DOESN'T HAVE REAL BUTTER! I still can't say those words without my jaw hitting the floor. And the iced tea requires at least two lemons and two Sweet & Lows to be remotely palatable. The taste will otherwise make you kind of feel sick. It's like it's fake tea or something. It's at least not brewed in house.
The server was very nice and helpful and I have no problems with the staff. My problem is with whoever is making purchasing decisions at this restaurant. No human being should consume margarine, as its engine lubricant and not food for humans, and tea is stupidly cheap and easy to make yourself. It makes me rather worried that they can't be bothered to make tea. Considering the prices, the overall experience is not a very bad value, but the lack of real butter in favor of this hydrogenated poison and the lack of actual iced tea that doesn't taste like it's going to make you sick are deal breakers. The second attached photo is the bourbon burger with a loaded baked potato side. The burger tasted great. I never touched my baked potato because they didn't have actual butter. Look at the ingredients on that...
Read moreWanted to stop in because of the reviews we’ve read. The reviews have all been extremely positive on service and food. These people must not have been of color because as soon as we were seated (husband is black and children are mixed), it was ten minutes before we even got drinks which I had to get up and go to the front to ask the hostess for. There are about 12 tables inside past the bar and there were 4 servers. These tables are not far spaced so these servers all walked past us table after table and greeted other customers and served drinks that arrived after us. I’ve worked as a server for over 10 years so I understand entirely how things are supposed to go. Not one server had even at least checked to see if someone had gotten to us yet. We reluctantly stayed, however, just to still give the place a chance but still realized with our first bites of our food that this place wasn’t anything worth what the reviews brag about. Definitely would not recommend.
Added: It’s never in my nature to resort to a race issue in any experience, anywhere. It’s not like we sat ourselves. The hostess guided us to our table with menus in hand. “Misguided assumption” or not, I stand by my review. Each server walked past us multiple times without stopping by to see if we had been taken care of. I went to the bathroom and came back and three tables that came in after us were greeted and had drinks before anyone even glanced our way. It is not typical for a table of 4 people, sitting at an empty tabletop, in the middle of the room, to go unnoticed by every server staffed. It was not an oversight. I watched them also have conversations around us while we sat without drinks. This was all around a terrible experience and I believe the servers should keep better tabs on table or...
