I’m so disappointed in the management staff, specifically Megan (front-end manager is what she called herself). We rented a carpet cleaner, and once we got it home and started to put it together to use we noticed how dirty it was. No big deal, except that step #7 says to clean the machine before returning to avoid a fee. We used the machine, which caused our entire carpets to smell terrible, and decided to bring it back early and talk with the rental service about its ineffectiveness and the dirty state it was in when we got it. Our point was to not get charged a cleaning fee since we had to clean it after our use and when we first got it. Brenda was helpful and professional and asked us to wait for management (Megan) in hopes of getting us a refund. We NEVER requested a refund, but thought we’d talk to the manager and see what was offered to us. Megan, without saying, called us liars when we let her know the machine was dirty, then left us there for about 10-15 minutes while she checked cameras (why?) to confirm that we were lying and the machine was clean when given to us. Megan refused to use professional tone, continually made me feel incompetent, and wouldn’t even make eye contact with us. She acted very immature, and not once apologized for accusing me of lying. Her coworkers Brenda (and Randy who was helpful to us as well) would make much better management. All we wanted originally was to make sure we weren’t going to get charged a cleaning fee, and we left feeling about an inch tall and completely disrespected. (Sidenote: Brenda did say “I’ve never seen anyone charged for a cleaning fee here but let me get my manager to help you.... Megan contradicted Brenda’s honesty by saying “the machine had to have been clean or we would have charged them a fee.”) perhaps Megan’s own dishonesty with customers is why she was so quick to think that we were liars.
We will continue to shop at Menard’s because of good employees (like a Brenda and Randy today), but maybe Megan needs more people skills training and to learn how to treat customers with curtesy and respect. A simple “you won’t get charged a cleaning fee and im so sorry the machine didn’t work for you guys” would have...
Read moreThis is the first Menards I've ever been in. I just needed to pop in for some yellow safety paint for the stockroom of a local business. I walked to the paint department, said good morning and told the lady what I was looking for. She said, "We don't have any premixed yellow paint." I said okay, I guess I'll just look around. She sighed loudly and walked me over to where the 10+ cans of yellow PREMIXED safety paint was located. There were a few options and I stupidly asked which might be best for a concrete floor in an indoor stockroom. She had no idea. I went for the cheapest one and she took the tag off and said no, it's not 24 it's 48 that tag is wrong. I was like okay, is there a scanner so I can check the price. Again, sighed loudly and said I'll just scan it on my machine. I follow her with the can and she comes over to the counter and goes back to where the paint was, I assumed she needed to scan something over there. There was another lady who hadn't clocked in yet and made sure I was being taken care of. The other lady came back all huffy and said, "Where did you go?! I thought you left!" I was like um no I was right behind you and the other lady was surprised at how she was acting toward me and said, "Yeah, she was right behind you the whole time." I asked the nice one which paint would be better, latex or oil based and she said oil based so I just said I'd go grab that one and check out and thanked her.
The nice lady was petite with brown hair and the extremely rude one had brassy blonde hair and and and issue with her right eye.
Turns out it was the wrong paint anyway. God forbid I assume someone working in a paint department might have some idea about thier products or at least be somewhat nice to a customer.
I then waited 10 minutes in line while there were 6 people chillin at customer service.
I'll never come back here for anything. I'm somewhat new to the area and this is my first bad experience at all, everyone else has been so kind. It's fine if your associates have no idea what they're doing but they could at least be...
Read moreI have used Menards a couple of times in the last month. They only have half of what I need, same as most other stores. We all have to be realistic, we have to understand that stores cannot carry everything. But they didn't have Hardie Backer boards, really? They are on the floor of every HI store and local lumber yard in the country. You have to special order them in, really! I assume there is a possibility that they did have it in and the fault lies with the worker being too lazy. But, I will never know, cause I will go to the other store from here on out, where I can just grab them myself! One older guy that works in the blinds area is always helpful, and he is the ONLY one! Had to load siding ourselves, had a hard time finding it because they were working on the shelves in the warehouse(which displaced normal siding housing) AND there was no one to ask or help. What a joke. They have a deal on some things, just not most. If you do the math, your 11% rebate is, most of the time, still higher than other stores. Why should we as good patrons WAIT to get a rebate that is only good for Menards store spending? Why not just give us the 11% in store at time of purchase? I went in for approximately 9 items and walked out with 3 because they didn't have the rest. At least the other store has your main needs. The guy at the paint desk was snooty. He wouldn't reveal the big secret of which base paint I needed for my choice of color. He told me that HE would know what I needed when his computer told him after he scanned it. Wow. Several of the guys at the siding desk are worthy of firing. I had to pull up the item I wanted online to show him what I was talking about(GoBoard), and he said it was $2 higher than online. This store is poorly managed. If it isn't a rush item, I usually order it online from another store, who is by far superior than the rest of go to the other store. I love shopping at HI stores, but this one needs to pick...
