Waffle House — Restaurant in Rolla

"The Rudest Waffle House in America" - I admit, I have a strange amount of affection for Waffle House. It’s nostalgic for me, my family stopped at Waffle Houses on trips for decades. It’s always been part of our family road trip tradition. We are currently driving from California on Ohio on vacation visiting family along the way. Last night our hotel in Rolla, MO was right next to a Waffle House and I was downright giddy as they don't have any in CA. We walked in this morning salivating for a Pecan Waffle, but ended up...without one. There was only one open table and it had dishes on it. We asked the server if we could sit there and she said "Sure." but in a very surly manner as if us walking and speaking to her was a major annoyance. No one ever came and wiped off our table, greeted us, brought us coffee, or even acknowledged we were there. We sat there for 20 minutes completely ignored.

One server was yelling at her mother who had stopped in to pick up a carry out order. "YES MOM I PUT SYRUP IN THE BAG, JUST GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" and other such rude statements. Having lost my mother to cancer this year, I wanted to tell the girl how happy she should be that her Mom loved her enough to come visit her work, but since she never bothered coming to my table I didn't get to share that piece of wisdom. Another server was in a fight with a customer because the customer had a coupon they didn't want to order. Another server was shuffling around the kitchen pretending to be busy and avoiding eye contact with all the customers sitting at tables and waiting. So, after 20 minutes, we gave up our family tradition of eating at Waffle House on the road and went next door to Shoney's where we were warmly greeted, waited on immediately and got a delicious...

Omg the cook is just plan terrible. Im typing this while outside of the restaurant. The cook kept complaining about shoveling the sidewalk while it’s currently still snowing. He stated and i quote “ im never gonna shovel the sidewalk with people keep coming in” “somebody gone fall i know it” Duhhh its snow but it wasn't slippery. . Backstory: they (the State troopers) shut down the interstate pass the truck stop and we was rerouted back to rolla. I just got off from work and been on the interstate since 8:30pm and i just needed some food before i checked into a hotel room. I got out of the traffic at 11pm. So i was hungry. The cook is just in there complaining, raising his voice at the other employees, kind of downgrading them thinking he knows everything, rushing to cook food. When another customer comes in he throw his hands and repeat the quote i stated earlier. Im outside eating my food and some of my eggs had shells in it, and thats what made me write this because not only was it bad service only on his end but his food was terrible and i dont like nobody playing with my food. Its to cold to go back in there and im tired. But Waffle House do something with that employee. Teach him to keep his emotions in tack. My visit was on 02/18/25 @ around 11pm. This was our first time at this Waffle House and I will say it doesn't deserve ANY stars. We walked into the restaurant and had to sit at a dirty table, didn't mind that much because we saw they were busy. After sitting without acknowledgement for over 5 minutes, the waitress finally came and took the dirty dishes off the table. Waited approximately 5 more minutes, the waitress came to take our order even though we were never given menus. We asked for menus and coffee. Menus were brought to us a few minutes later, but still no coffee. After waiting about 10 minutes, the waitress came and took our food order and we again asked for coffee while the waitress explained to us that they were short handed (instead of 4 people working the floor, they only had 3...lol)About 10 minutes after that, we asked another waitress to bring us some coffee. When she brought it to us, it was luke warm. After sitting and watching a couple that came in 10 minutes after we did get there food and still saw no sign of our food on the grill, we decided to leave and go to Denny's down the road where we got EXCELLENT service and HOT coffee. Definitely do not recommend Waffle House in Rolla. We will...
