I came in here on a whim on Thursday June 10th 2025 right around noon. I wasn't planning on eating here I had just met up here with someone to purchase something off FB marketplace, since I was in the parking lot I decided to go in and get some lunch and I'm glad I did.
On first impression coming in I felt like I went back in time to an old cafeteria for senior citizens, and it is kind of that way but it's open and airy with plenty of good booth seating. The music is depressing as it's all old mostly from the 70's stuff, which is ok but I don't like crying over my food usually! Bit of a joke there so don't get upset if you love it!
The good news is the food is actually pretty good! Usually these types of restaurants actually do cater to the local elderly crowd and so sometimes the food is understandably bland but not so much this time.
I was seated instantly (apparently seat yourself) and was greeted immediately by Kelci, a great server with a very pleasant and beautiful smile and a very professional and efficient demeanor.
I ordered the grilled catfish with mashed potatoes and green beans. The catfish was surprisingly good with a nice flavor (even though the filet was almost tiny, luckily I wasn't too hungry, it still tasted good and the tartar sauce is came with was perfect). The sides I had were mashed potato's (again, nice flavor but no gravy) and the green beans were pretty fresh even though probably from a can, and those were pretty bland.
Funny thing is there were no bread options for the meal but it was lunchtime so maybe that's why?
They also have a large selection of desserts which Kelci helped me pick through. I got a slice of German chocolate cake which was huge and delicious, I couldn't finish it.
Also the tea is good old southern tea, I had the half and half because it's pretty sweet but that's the way it's supposed to be!
Overall the place was very clean and smelled nice. There's ample parking outside and the location is convenient.
I will probably come back when in the area but won't make a drive from where I live in Cartersville just to eat here.
So overall I'm giving 5 stars for the excellent service (thank you Kelci), 4 stars for the food, 3 for the atmosphere (kick up the music to add in some modern rock or something!) and 5 stars for cleanliness, parking and location.
Definitely recommend for locals and folks...
Read moreI can't comprehend the positive reviews on the food. Everything was a sad beige disappointment.
Our family of 5 all ordered different things. The best item was the Country Fried steak, well prepared and lightly seasoned. The biscuits were buttery and flakey. Everything else was bland, unseasoned, and not at all changed from the can or box it came in. The mashed potatoes were obviously flake and tasted more of cardboard than anything else. No butter, no salt, no pepper, no creaminess. Just a smooth paste of white. The green beans were straight out of a can and didn't have a grain of salt nor any flavor at all. The mac n cheese was an embarrassment to all southerners with zero cheese flavor, tasting only of raw pasta. The kids chicken tenders were large, all white meat chunks of breast meat, unseasoned and coated in a fish-style breading which was also unflavored. The breakfast items were bland but fine. Apparently, based on the flavors and other customers, the restaurant targets the blue hairs on a low sodium, no flavor diet. Small towns tend to be havens for places afraid to season their food, and this is no different. If you want to be not hungry, this would work, but you aren't likely to have anything of note. The server was sweet, thoughtful, and attentive. The building is cute. The dessert display was attractive, but we didn't try any. No manager checked on us, so we weren't able to share our disappointment during the visit.
Sad food. Sad experience for our lunch. Salt doesn't just make things salty, it also brings out the flavor of the food. Apparently business is just fine without flavor. It will need to be fine...
Read moreMediocre food and service. If someone else insisted they wanted to eat there I would let them choose for us to go there, but I would not choose to go back there again. It was reasonably priced and had LOTS of food choices. I was with a group of 6 ladies meeting for dinner, and none of what they ordered impressed me visually. Everyone said their food was good, but no one was raving about their food. I was getting a they were being polite vibe. I had a teriyaki chicken sandwich with a side salad. The sauce on the sandwich had no taste, but the meat was cooked well and a generous size. I just dipped it in my leftover ranch from my salad. But the pitiful thing that was called a side salad was a disappointment. It was only slightly bigger than my palm. At least the vegetables were fresh. Lastly, our waitress did the bare minimum. With just a tad more attention to detail, she could have made the experience better. And before you think it No she was not busy with other tables. The place hardly had anyone in it. Overall it was a very mediocre experience. As I said, I would be willing to try again if someone else really wanted to go there, but I would not choose...
