Sunny's Coney Island & Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Romulus

Whoever wrote bad reviews must have prior issues with the owners, this place is great! A hidden gem in plain view. I was skeptical at first, but as soon as I saw their coney dogs I knew it was gonna be good! So much coney sauce and a great dog! Then I had to taste the biscuits and gravy...... the sausage gravy is good, but the biscuits rocked my world! The cook must've buttered and grilled them on the cut sides quick or something, but those things melt in your mouth! I had some extra gravy because they serve so much so I ordered another biscuit to use it up!!!! If I lived by this place, I would be here multiple times a week. And their prices can't be beat! Theres a reason why the place looks a little dated.... and it's not cause they don't get business, its cause they give you such a good deal onthe food! 4 of us are there for 35$ and I had two meals..... this place is a diamond inthe rough. If I lived around here I would be a solid three hundo by winter! And yes I mean lbs bud. Try this place out, dont let the appearance fool you, this is a true mom n pop diner with quick service and great food. The kids even got dum dums afterwards from the cook herself. BEWARE!!!!!!!! COCKROACHES, COCKROACHES, COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE, I VISITED SUNNY’S CONEY ISLAND OVER THIS WEEKEND. SUNNY’S CONEY ISLAND SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!! THEY ARE DISGUSTING!!!!! COCKROACHES CRAWLING ALL OVER THIS PLACE. WATCHED THE OWNERS JUST STEP ON THEM LIKE IT’S THE NORMAL AND NOT A BIG DEAL. IT’S A HUGE DEAL!!!! THE WAITSTAFF DOESN’T CARE EITHER. THEY SEE THE COCKROACHES AND DO THE SAME THING, COCKROACHES NOT JUST ONLY ON THE FLOORS BUT THE COUNTERS, TABLES AND WALLS, WHEN I SAID SOMETHING TO THE WAITSTAFF THEIR REACTION WAS “THE OWNERS ARE PIGS AND DON’T CARE, I JUST WORK HERE”, SERIOUSLY, IT DOESN’T MAKE IT RIGHT FOR ANYONE TO BE RUNNING A RESTAURANT LIKE THIS OR CONDONE IT. NOT TO MENTION THAT EVERYTHING IS HANDLED WITH BAREHANDS……….ABSOLUTELY NO WASHING. WATCHED THE COOKS (OWNERS) PUTTING FOOD IN THEIR MOUTHS (EATING) WHILE THEY ARE COOKING (BAREHANDS AND ALL). THE WAITSTAFF EATS FOOD WHILE SERVING CUSTOMERS TOO. JUST SO DISGUSTING ALL THE WAY AROUND. PEOPLE ARE GETTING SICK FROM PLACES...

Absolutely no complaints with the food and portions. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant more frequently and every time we have came the customer service has gotten worse and worse. When this restaurant has a little more customers than usual the waitresses are extremely rude. Today for instance we politely asked one of the waitresses if we can have a bigger table cleaned off (we have already waited a long time and there were so many employees by the register that could’ve helped us). The waitress responded by getting extremely loud, she was very rude and told us to leave if we cannot wait. In addition, the last few times we have come to this restaurant we have to ask continuous times for basic eating materials such as knifes and napkins.
