Backside Brewing Co. — Restaurant in Roseburg

It was a cold, rainy winter night when my wife and I first stepped into Backside Brewing. We were new to Roseburg at the time, and we were looking for a cool, local microbrewery with good vibes and beers to boot. Well, we found it! Backside is a chill brewery with just the right amount of character to make it uniquely Roseburg. The beer is the star of the show here. My favorite being the Peach Ale, crisp, light and refreshing. And yet the fruit flavors are not overpowering. Also enjoy the Hazy IPA. I’m not a huge fan of IPAs in general. They all seem to taste the same. But this one from Backside is especially good. Props to the brewer. The food is really good too. The pizzas are giant. Think New York style thin crust, but piled with fresh toppings. For a large pie, the price was pretty decent too. The tacos are good too. Street tacos on Tuesday, how can you go wrong? Toasted subs with chicken, salami, pepperoni. Great food suggestions for a weekend afternoon. Decided to have our wedding here over Labor Day weekend, amid COVID, to which up until the very last second management and employees refused to wear masks. The day of the wedding they miraculously lost all the info regarding our menu, which was a super huge part of the wedding as we had guests who vegetarian. What we received for food was rotisserie chicken cut up with Parmesan cheese labeled “garlic Parmesan wings” a salad with ranch, ranch, balsamic, and mystery sauce. We were promised endless pizzas as part of the deal, over half of which were burnt to a crisp. The entire venue was disgusting to say the least, and we were promised by the manager Carly that the entire warehouse was just dirty from some event, and would be clean when we arrived. Well when we arrived to set up WE had to clean the entire place. 20 or so minutes into vigorous cleaning an employee, maskless, finally came out to help clean.

Needless to say, very disappointed and I don’t recommend.

I have been to Backside lots of times but just for the beer (peach is my fav!). Never tried their pizza so decided to give it a try last weekend. Was very disappointed. The guy making our pizza was too busy flirting with some bimbo at the other end of the bar... My friend and I heard him say out loud "oh shoot! Let me go check on that pizza!" (Not speaking to us but to the people at the opposite end of the bar). He got our pizza out of the oven, plopped it down in front of us without saying a word and rushed back to his friends. The pizza was horrid! It was clearly over cooked, the tomato slices were WAYYYY too thick on the margarita pizza. The pizza fell apart. There was too much corn meal on the bottom.. I could go on but I think you get the idea. My friend and I each had one piece of a large pie and left the rest behind (what a rip off for $14!). We got the check and left.
