I will start by saying I was really excited for a date night I planned and decided on this restaurant - I read the reviews and they seemed really good - Parking was an issue so my boyfriend dropped me off while I went inside so that we wouldn’t loose the reservation - when I went inside the place was really nice - but there was no hostess at the table so I waited a few minutes and still nothing - so I walked behind the curtain to look for her - she finally appeared behind the bar and then walked me back out to the hostess stand - I asked her about parking and began to tell me where we could park - but then her phone rang and she went outside to talk on the phone - I waited again for her - but after a few minutes she didn’t come back inside - I went outside to ask her about parking again - while she was still on her phone she pointed to across the street - So this introduction was not a good start- but I said to myself maybe it was an emergency call
After her phone call she sat us at the bar until our table was ready - we waited 15 minutes before she came back to tell us out table was ready but by then we decided to eat at the bar - she thanked us for sitting at the bar and said we helped her out - and that sitting at the bar we would get our food faster - NOT TRUE AT ALL!!!
The bar tender took our order - he said we would had to give him our entree and appetizer all at once that he couldn’t put it in separately - A LITTLE STRANG BUT OK!!
We placed our order beef kabob - calamari - lamb chops - surf and turf and a cheeseburger to go - and drinks ( lemon drop, beer and a shot of kettle one) - we waited 25 minutes for our appetizers - I was certain that it was going to be cold once it came out but it wasn’t - the calamari was REALLY GOOD - the beef kabobs were really salty - (and I love salt but it was really salty) then we waited for our entrees - we were the only people at the bar but sitting on the side and I am 100% certain the bartender forgot we were sitting there - HOW? Not sure but he definately did - I had to ask a lady who was cleaning behind the bar about our food - the bar tender came out and said let me check on that - and then we waited again - we finally got it - lamb chops were good - surf and turf was NOT- my steak was burnt ( I asked for medium well) I could taste the burnt - lobster tail was good - I asked him for steak sauce and melted butter he brought me out some type of garlic butter not melted - I hate sending food back so I just decided to finish off my calamari -
We ask for the bill - and our to go order - he forgot to put our cheeseburger in - he said someone took it - but it wasn’t on the bill so he forgot to put it in so we waited again
Overall Experience: Food was tasty but they need some tightening up with the workers - the bar tender forgetting we were sitting there was very rude - the hostess unprofessional - our reservation was for 8:30 - we didn’t leave there until almost 11- our bill...
Read moreOmg Me and my husband just left this establishment I WANT MY MONEY BACK. 9/27 Who are the people making these reviews. Today is hubby birthday so we had a reservation for a party of 2. Let me just say this is the most horrible food that you can possibly put in your mouth. Let's start with the beef kebabs we had for a appetizer that wasn't cooked I bit straight into raw meat. We called the waiter over. He had the nerve to ask me how do we want him to fix this. I told him just remake it. He insisted to send the manager over. The manager gave me his apologies. He brought another Kebab out that was just nasty. wasn't good at all🙄Now for the entree my husband ordered the red snapper fish fried with head off with a side of Mac and jolloff rice. I ordered the i believe carribean chicken with shrimp which the waiter told me was spicy. I like spicy no worries. Honeyyyy the chicken that comes with this meal is like the chunk chicken in a can🤮 and there was no spice and competely dry..My husband fish came with the head still attached they had to take it back.. This was crazy because we made sure we told the waiter... My husband at this time is now running to bathroom from the appetizer to💩 I'm sitting at the table trying not to throw up from whatever I ate. The waiter comes and bring my hubby plate back after 7 minutes just to cut the head. You can't even enjoy eating from the bugs flying around. The mac & cheese bland. The jollof rice ok. However, both entrees were horrible. We ask the waiter for take out boxes. He comes over hands US a bill of $150. I give him $200 this man said would u like your change back🤨.. Are you serious. You really think you did something to receive a $50 tip.I am insulted and then yall didn't even tell my husband happy birthday which was the reason for the invitation. I am appalled. Me and my husband are throwing up and using the bathroom with what I believe is food poisoning. WE we're robbed of a night that was suppose to be special. Please don't eat here the food and customer service is 0 also there's no parking. YOU HAVE TO PARK AT PUMP IT UP OR DOLLAR TREE
UPDATE
House 157, how dare you come up here and tell me that my beef was not raw it just wasn't to my desired temperature? What you won't do is call me a liar. If it's bleeding and stilling mooing it's raw. Yes, my husband felt sick after eating, and so did I. Whether you like it or not, I'm entitled to tell my experience. You do not sympathize with or understand me or my husband's horrible time at your establishment because when I reached out via email, you did not respond. So don't try to come up here and save face. Everyone, if Tik tok brought you here, please don't...
Read moreI’ve been following this restaurant on instagram for a while so I was really looking forward to celebrating my sister’s birthday here. The venue is on a busy street in Roselle Park. The parking situation isn’t great. They have signs that you can park at Dollar tree or Pump it up but then you have to cross Westfield Ave which is dangerous when there are no lights and its night time. We opted to look for street parking and had to walk a bit of a distance.
We were seated rather quickly. We had reservations. The restaurant is cute. Nicely decorated. Music wasn’t too high so we could hear ourselves talk.
Service wasn’t the worse but I’ve definitely had better. I don’t feel like our waiter was very attentive. We were never asked if we wanted refills on drinks. We were never asked how our food was or if we need anything else after getting the food. Not sure if the waiter was overwhelmed or that’s just how he is but I’m used to a different level of service even at restaurants with lower price points.
Menu…it’s supposed to be upscale Caribbean/Latin food. The sides are very carb heavy. I wish there were more veggie options as a side.
On to the food/drinks…we ordered sweet tea, soda and Moscato. I liked my tea. My mom said hers tastes like bleach water. My sister tried her tea and said it tastes like someone didn’t rinse the cup out well. Our waiter never asked about refills or why my mom’s tea was full so 🤷🏾♀️.
My family ordered the calamari for an appetizer. I didn’t try it but my 12 year old said it was the best thing he’s had in a long time. My sisters seemed to like it as well. For entrees, I ordered griyo and a side of plantains. My side of plantains never came and our waiter never came to see how our food was so I never received them. The food was okay. Rice was hard but I’m sure it’s because it was reheated. Black rice can’t be made to order but I’ve had black rice at a fine dining Haitian restaurant and it wasn’t this hard. I ordered my son’s steak Medium well but it was definitely well done and there wasn’t any seasoning in it. He was dipping it in the calamari sauce. My mom had the red snapper. She had joloff rice and complained about it being hard as well and the lack of seasoning on her food. One of my sisters had Rasta pasta. She loved it! She was the only one to finish their whole meal. My other sister had lamb chops and a side of macaroni and cheese . She said her lamb chops were over cooked and her food was also under seasoned.
We basically left underwhelmed and this is a one and done...
