I used to be a regular customer here for the past few years, once a week usually or sometimes twice, but after today I will not be coming here any more. As a result of today's experience I actually suffered an anxiety attack that my body is still trying to recover from. Perhaps it's my fault for over-reacting, but I think most people would get frustrated if they had a similar experience.
I called and ordered a to-go order at 11:20am today (8-20) and was told in 15-20 minutes it would be ready. I arrived 25 minutes later, left my car running, went inside to pay for my food and was under the impression it was ready or would be right up. 40 minutes later it was still not done and my car had been running the whole time. I notified 3 different employees what was going on and yet nobody could get me my food and let me let me leave. I was told the kitchen was backed up, they were just waiting for pancakes, it will be right up, it's coming, etc. I was given multiple excuses and strung along until I was really ready to lose my temper. I asked for a refund and told the owner I needed to leave 2 times before I finally recieved my money back, he kept trying to stall or buy time. Of course, FINALLY, after I react and have lost all patience they say it's coming up now... How in the world does 15-20 minutes turn into 45 minutes, the whole time the kitchen churns out other people's orders, even other to go orders or people that arrived after I did?
They tried to offer me my food for free but why would I possibly accept at that point? No thanks, never again. I had an appointment that I to get to and would usually have had more than enough time to eat, but as a result of this restaurants mistake I did not get to have breakfast and was late for my appointment, not to mention the gas. This is not the 1st time they've done this to me, about a year or so ago a similar thing happened. I decided to give them another chance but as the old saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice,...
Read moreThis is the second time my family and I have visited this diner and they are great! Both service and food have been awesome. Today, we were seated quickly on a busy Sunday morning. For a family of five, it was great not to have to wait. We have a little one, so thankfully they were crayons a kids menu to color. The restaurant is cozy, nice and clean. The staff has been friendly both times.
I tried the bacon cheeseburger with waffle fries. The fries and burger blew me away! I would absolutely order this again. Delicious, large portions and the fries were batter dipped waffle fries. I had no idea they had those! The rest of the family got: Stuffed biscuits and gravy (two biscuits topped with eggs, bacon, sausage and gravy, with a big side of hash browns), Chicken and waffles, children's chocolate chip pancakes (huge portion, VERY chocolatey), and biscuits and gravy. Also, they always have split pea soup and the croutons are to die for. I highly recommend trying this soup as it's the best split pea I've ever had! My husband and I have been raving about it since the first time we visited, so I absolutely had to get a cup to go with my burger and fries. We got our food very quickly and the server checked back off and. I have only great things to say about the two times we've been here. We absolutely will go back as I would love to try some of the lunch sandwiches and get some more of these delicious...
Read moreI'll try my best not to come off like a curmudgeon in this review😆... The food and wait staff were excellent, even though they were super-busy when we went on a Saturday morning. Also, I really like the updated decor, compared to most other "Mom & Pop" places in the area. (Sorry, I didn't take photos, but there are already some in other reviews.) We did have to wait over 10 minutes for the food (totally understandable since they were slammed at that point), but the food was worth the wait - delicious and generous portions. Yes, I can corroborate what others have raved about the ham - it is exceptional!) What I didn't appreciate was when they suddenly turned on the cheesy classic rock soundtrack that put a strain on the nice conversation i was having with my out of town guests. Ironically, just a few minutes before the music went on, I was actually telling my friends how nice it was that this was the only restaurant I'd been to in a long time that wasn't blaring music right over your head, causing you to have shout at each other and repeat yourself a lot. Oh well, maybe I am just a cranky...
