1st time visit to Toasted Yolk and new to TX. I spoke to my cousin who is from here what she thought about Toasted Yolk and she said “ummmm… it’s ok” . I should have known. It’s less than average for sure. The 4-5 star reviews must be from locals who don’t know good food or service for sure.
There were only 3 tables being used when I arrived and one couple at the bar that the waitress must be friends with. They were chatting it up. Her and the bartender didn’t acknowledge me for quite some time. When the bartender did, she was either high, drunk, or on meds or a combination of the three and said she “assumed I was getting takeout” . She referred me to the one waitress Abbii. The counter was really dirty but I finally had to ask them to please wipe it. It was a while before they got to it. The silverware was unsightly; I just asked for a cup if hot water to sit them in before I ate.
The meal she recommended was granola apple french toast. Sub-par at best. Apples definitely not fresh. A compote of some sort. The sausage patties were ok. She poured my cranberry and apple juice from Ocean Spray containers into a cup with no ice.
Not once did anyone ask how my meal was or did I need anything. If it were busy I would understand. I seldom complain; I just observe. The waitress kindly presented me the bill after a break in conversation with her friends at the bar. Another employee from the kitchen went outside several times to smoke a cigarette and brought the stench on his tail wind from the front to the kitchen. It was awful. Hope they washed their hands after.
The manager sat behind me in the corner under the TV...
Read moreMy family come here all of the time, and service is usually pretty good; however, not today. First we waited for someone to come and take our order, but no one came until we asked. Then the man who came to take our order seemed not to effectively take our order, instead he went on and on about not liking the meals made together with no seasoning cause it made it have a stinky smell, and about what was going to be on the menu next month. Finally Destiny came over and took our order. While ordering, my husband ordered the creole Arnold, and requested specifically the his eggs be made hard with absolutely no runny yolk. The lady confirmed his order then went to place it. When my husband's meal came back he began to eat it, and on his second bite alot of yolk came gooshing out into his mouth. My husband immediately pulled it away and wiped his mouth. It was disgusting and made him lose his appetite for that meal. The waitress came back and asked if he wanted something else which he would have had to wait for, and eat probably after we all finished. He asked for one pork chop and the waitress told him that he would have to pay full price for it. Now, while it's not at all about the money, it is about the inconvenience and poor experience my husband had due to his food being made wrong. I asked to speak with a manager, and the owner, or owners wife was sent to our table. She basically told us that it was just a little runny egg and the was nothing she could really do about it to accommodate for such an inconvenience. It was just really poor taste. As frequent customers, I stand on good customer service, and this...
Read moreIt was my first time at this location, and they need some work that's for sure. As soon as I walked in it was two ladies at the host stand. One of them walked right passed me and greeted the couple behind me, and asked them how many. I was there before them but it wasn't a big deal because I was waiting on my mom to arrive. I had to greet the host and tell her party of 2 and she said yes I will be right with you let me take them first. I again didn't tell her that I was there first but the nice gentleman that she was helping sure did. I wanted to give her some grace because maybe she thought I was with the woman in front of me. So I finally got seated with my mom and no one greeted us to take our drink orders for 15 mins. I saw plenty of waiters/waitresses walk past us and not even acknowledge us. So I finally went back to the host stand and told her that no one had come to our table yet. She proceeded to tell me okay well I'm going to TRY to find your server. Finally the manager came over and greeted us and took our orders. He also walked past our table multiple times without even acknowledging us. If I wasn't starving and had my mind set on their food I would have left. The food was good. We finally had a waiter come over to us but by then it was too late our food and drinks were ordered. He says he saw us sitting there for a while and I'm like well why didn't you come over and ask us have we been helped. It literally takes...
