Today I dropped by for the first time for dinner as I'm new to Richmond and was craving some authentic pho. This was anything but that. My mom ordered a pho lean brisket regular sized bowl and I got the shaking beef with rice. The pho was weird, didn't have a hearty broth flavor and when we asked for extra white onions they added just a measly bit more. Also, the ice water when asked with a slice of lemon/lime the slices offered were like 1/12th of a slice, I mean I understand there's an inflation but that's a bit skimpish. As for my shaking beef, the brown sauce was very salty and not tasty. Usually when I order a rice dish it comes with a complimentary side of plain pho soup but this place didn't offer such. This was the most underwhelming pho spot I've been to. I was trying to avoid the trek to Sugar Land to go to Pho Ben or Pho Saigon but I'll most likely have to go back out there to satisfy my craving next time. I should have known when there were no Asians at this establishment that the food wasn't good. I do give them credit for asking how the food was when I immediately went up to the counter to pay and the server acknowledged and apologized that the food was bad. But they didn't take it off the charges and still proceeded to go with the transaction even when the bowl of pho was pretty much not eaten and the shaking beef was about 50% through. I would have appreciated the comp for the pho though. Further, the manager or owner came in and sat down at the front table and proceeded to take his shoes and socks off at the restaurant. Definitely never coming back. Please avoid at all cost if you're ever craving authentic pho or Vietnamese food. I had to walk over to McDonald's for a happy meal for me and mom to avoid letting the dinner experience entirely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was our first time eating here and our last. Outside of the friendly waitress, nothing about this place makes us want to return. The atmosphere was dreary and base line at best, the restaurant itself well, the tables were clean and bussed quickly but the overall presentation was really lacking. The dished we ordered definitely looked better than they tasted. They were way overpriced and the portions were small. There's no way I should be paying $60 for 3 Bowls of Pho and a Rice & Steak plate. The 2 children's pho was $7ea... it was literally just broth and noodles. My kids are Vegan, so that's what they always order but for $7/bowl?! My wife's Tofu Pho wasn't good she said and the portion was small. The vegetable side plate you get with pho was embarrassing. As for mine, the egg was too salty, some of my rice was hard(it's obviously been sitting for a while) and the steak wasn't anything to write home about. Oh, and the Spring Rolls I ordered were laughable at best. They were really thin and not that tasty. The rolls I get at our normal spot are twice as thick and the Peanut Sauce is pretty good. The sauce here tasted off to me and was just ok, I guess. On the Parking, it's not the biggest lot so take that for what it's worth. I rarely write reviews about mediocre or bad dining experiences but sometimes I just have too. I also don't have an issue paying good money for good food. However, if I'm paying $60, the food and overall experience better be worth it! Sadly, it wasn't this time. On a side note, my wife felt so bad about the Spring Rolls that she made me a big plate of them for dinner tonight to "make up for my...
Read moreMy husband and I tried this Pho restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. There were no other customers when we arrived so our service was excellent. The restaurant itself was cold, cold, cold! Now if this was a typical summer day here in Texas, that would have been great, but seeing as it was 45°F outside, it made dining a little uncomfortable.
As far as the food, their appetizers are free from 2-6 p.m., so we had the Vietnamese egg rolls. They were great! Absolutely delicious! There were 4 to the order and came with the traditional dipping sauce. The pork was hot and tender on the inside, and the outside was very light and crispy. We could have ate a dozen!
For our meal, we each had a grilled meat (myself choosing pork, my husband had shrimp and pork) served over rice noodles, lettuce, and assorted veggies (cucumbers, carrots, etc.). Now I've had this dish at other Pho restaurants, and I would say the flavor is about the same. I enjoyed it. My only issue was that the pork was extremely tough. I had to cut it into small pieces, otherwise I was chewing for longer than i wanted. This was my husband's first visit to a Pho, and he loved the egg rolls but wasn't all that impressed with his meal.
I would eat there again. My husband? Only if I was dragging him and promised an endless supply of those egg rolls. Our total: $25.00 (that included a tea and a...
