Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Roseville

While visiting Michigan, we were looking for something good but affordable to eat, and someone recommended Captain Jay’s Fish & Chicken — and let me just say, it did not disappoint!

We got a 5-piece chicken wing meal (with double fries, a drink, and bread) and a kids fish stick meal, plus a jalapeño and a peach cobbler — all for under $25. The real star of the show was the 5-piece wing meal, which I had tossed in the hot honey BBQ sauce for just an extra dollar. The sauce was really good — not as spicy as I personally would have liked, but still flavorful and delicious.

The chicken was incredibly crispy and seasoned perfectly, and the fries were nice and crunchy too. I asked for some lemon pepper sprinkled on top, and the employee happily did it — 10/10 flavor! Honestly, I couldn’t even finish it all in one sitting — and now I’m sitting here just salivating thinking about the rest of that crispy chicken I get to eat later tonight!

The service was also excellent. A very sweet, helpful, and funny lady (I didn’t catch her name, but she was Black — it’s cool, I’m Black too haha) greeted me warmly and made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere inside was clean, laid-back, and welcoming.

If you're looking for somewhere with great food, great service, and great prices, definitely check out Captain Jay’s. The value you get for what you pay is totally worth it. After a long day of driving, it was exactly what we needed — I’m so glad...

This store is absolutely horrible!!!DO NOT ORDER HERE!!! I just placed an order on uber eats and received my order and all 16 pieces were burnt!! I called the store and the girl yells in the phone saying hello as she proceeds to tell me she will let me talk to the manager. He then gets on the phone and goes back and forth with me that my chicken was not burnt and it was freshly made because they ran out of chicken so they made it fresh and it was not burnt because he was the one that made it. I told him I don’t care if the chicken just came from the farm in the back all of my chicken was burnt and not edible….he offered for me to come to the store and get it replaced…what was the point of ordering on uber if I could’ve came and picked it up? I have a newborn and a 6 year old and I’m not bringing them out at 9:30pm because they messed my chicken up!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS STORE!!!! I will be calling and reporting them...

I placed a Togo order with fried okra and fried catfish and jumbo shrimp. When I got home I noticed they forgot my shrimp that I paid for. I gave them a call back to find myself on the phone with someone named Jessica. She proceeded to tell me that I didn’t order jumbo shrimp and hung up on me. When I called her back, she told me that she sees my shrimp right here and that she put me on hold to do a DoorDash. She literally hung up in the middle of me speaking. Then proceeded to tell me that maybe I shouldn’t order my food from here anymore. Very, very rude and every single time we get food from there, we are missing food and it takes an hour to even get our food. Very rude It’s not my fault I paid for food for it not to be in the bag then to call to figure it out and to get disrespected. I asked to speak to a manager and got hung up on once again.
