“The elderly gentleman was seated in the booth directly across from my family as we ate dinner Saturday night at Eat'n Park in Belle Vernon. We really didn't see him come in. But we did notice when our server, Dylan, dropped to one knee to look him eye-to-eye as he got ready to take his order. The man apologized for not hearing too well. He had forgotten to put in his hearing aids. He talked about how he lost his hearing during his time in the war. He was 91 years old with many stories to tell. Dylan patiently listened giving him his full attention.
Eventually the man apologized for talking so much. ‘I'm alone now,’ he said, ‘and I don't often have someone to talk to.’ Dylan smiled and said he enjoyed listening. He then helped him figure out what to order and left to take it to the kitchen. It was a touching sight. I wanted offer to pay for the man's dinner, but before I could flag down Dylan, a man seated at a nearby booth asked Dylan to bring him his check. ‘Someone's already taken care of it,’ Dylan smiled. I guess we weren't the only ones eavesdropping on the conversation.
After the man received his food Dylan came back to say he was on a break. He asked if he could sit with the gentleman as he ate. As we left the restaurant the two of them were conversing and many people seated nearby were smiling. It was a touching sight.
With all of the negative stories about our youth today this was a breath of fresh air. I wonder if I would have been as kind and attentive if I were the one working there. One thing's for sure, if you are ever at Eat'n Park in Belle Vernon, ask for Dylan. If he's your waiter you're certain to get...
Read moreSuper pissed. Smh I go to eat n park at least once a week for breakfast since I’ve been in town visiting family. I went today and ordered a meat lovers, it was delicious but a lot of food to eat all at once. The omelet itself is pretty big on its own. So I decided to package up literally half of my meal to bring home and have for later. My son and I were joined in conversation so when I got up to leave I left my food. I get to the parking lot and literally drive to the first stop sign in Walmart parking lot when I realize I left my box so I called and immediately turned around. I go back inside while on the phone with a young lady and as I turn the corner and see the empty table she tells me the busser just cleared the table. Smh it wasn’t even 5 minutes. Don’t get me wrong, they are usually always busy and I understand clearing tables quickly for the next guests but considering your paying about $20 per plate maybe putting the box to the side for 5-10 minutes to see if the customer calls or returns would be courteous smh. Not to mention the table or seats are never really clean, my son got blueberry stains all over his tan pants and neither of us had blueberries. Smh I didn’t even get to eat most of it bc it was so much food so of course I would’ve liked to have it and finish it later. Smh next time maybe put the box to the side or offer compensation bc that was a lot of good food...
Read moreThis place has really went downhill. I can remember not that long ago when their marketing campaigns focused around using quality, locally sourced foods. This was our 3rd choice for a Friday night dinner. My wife had brought home the whale of a cod fried fish sandwiches a year earlier during Lent and they were pretty good. We both wanted fish sandwiches and to add the salad bar. The special was fish and mac. We asked the waitress to add the salad bar to our order for whatever the uncharge price was. She advised us it couldn't be done and we would have to pay full price for the salad bar. What????? We ended up ordering the fish dinner with 2 sides as a work around and substituted one of the sides for the salad bar. Of course that left us with fish on a dish and no bun. The salad bar is always fine with 2-3 soups in addition. I asked for extra tarter sauce and received 1 tiny portion that didn't even cover half of my fish. We both took a bite of our fish and it wasn't the same quality as last year. It was like a giant fish stick with minced up fish in the shape of a filet. Both of our fish were watery and tasteless. The mac and cheese was some bland food service food. The worst part of the experience was when the bill came. We didn't order any apps or desserts and I had an iced tea and my wife had a water. Roughly $60 including tip for a really disappointing meal. We won't be returning...
