Google Review: A Lesson from Coffee Grounds
This is not a review about coffee. It's about coffee groundsâand what they taught me about leadership, communication, and teamwork.
Hereâs my story: I needed coffee grounds for gardening. I visited over 10 Starbucks locations, and most of them told me they donât save coffee grounds for customers. Only two stores said yes: this location and the Starbucks at Georgetown Shopping Center.
My experience at Starbucks Georgetown was, frankly, terrible. Eight out of ten times, they promised to save coffee grounds for me, only to later say, âI forgotâ or âNo one told me to do that.â The final straw was my interaction with the manager. After letting me wait at the counter for over 15 minutes, he finally emerged from the staff break room, visibly groggy, and told me not to come back for coffee grounds again.
In sharp contrast, this Starbucks location was a shining example of excellent leadership and teamwork. The staff communicated clearly and followed through on their promises. Each time I came in, they had the coffee grounds ready, and they did so with kindness and efficiency. Itâs refreshing to see such smooth collaboration in action, and it made me appreciate how much effort goes into even the small things, like saving coffee grounds for a customer.
As a customer, you want a good team to make your coffee. A team that communicates, works together, and takes pride in what they do. This Starbucks didnât just meet my needsâthey exceeded them. They turned a simple request into a positive experience, and for that, I am grateful. Thank you for being a team I...
Read moreItâs hard to imagine how chaotic and disrespectful this Starbucks location has gotten. We live down the street and have been going to this Starbucks every morning since we moved here 3 years ago. The experience I had this morning was one for the memory books. After patiently waiting in the drive thru and picking up my first drink (grande black coffee) I was asked to pull up to the patio for my second drink (iced american). I was surprised given the relative simplicity of these drinks, but I obliged. I pulled up to the end of the driveway and as close to the patio as possible without falling back into the drivethru line, which at that point had looped around back to the drivethru exit. As I sat there waiting for my drinks, I saw the cars behind me receive their drink and pull up to leave, only they couldnt because I was the furthest car up front (per the direction of the attendant). I started hearing horns and I continued to nudge forward and to the side as much as possible without falling back into the drive thru line and blocking new entrants. Eventually the barista came out, carrying my iced americano and an attitude that would have you think twice about her experience in the service business. She yelled at me for not being pulling around to the other side of the patio, despite that being the same line as the drivethru cars, and I told her, sorry I will do that next time and she responded with ânext time you wont get yo drink!â. Completely shocked and holding up the line, I didnt know how to respond so I drove away. Itâs Ground and Pound coffee...
