Just finished dinner at El Potrillo. Arrived after 6:00 pm and the restaurant was 3/4th full and it was my husband and my first time eating there, so we were encouraged. There was drink special and I ordered the $2.00 Tecate which was cold and refreshing. We ordered the queso with chorizo dip and it was terrible. The cheese didn't taste like cheese but rather some over processed cream. It was burned and the chorizo was unremarkably bland. Next came our burritos...I order the burrito chipotle and my husband ordered a simple beef burrito with rice. He managed to eat his burrito but I took 3 bites of mine and had to stop. It had shrimp, chicken and steak in it, with avocado slices and tomatoes on top. I ate the avocado and left the rest. Our waitress asked if there was something wrong and instead of telling her the food was uneatable, we courteously told her that it was too much food. She was busy and not very attentive to us but when the bill came, it was slammed down on our table and after the credit card was processed the receipt was also slammed down on our table with no thank you, no have a nice evening or any words at all spoken to us. My husband who is very non-confrontational commented as we left that it was the rudest establishment he had ever been to and we both had a bad taste in our mouth from the burned queso. Please do not waste your time and money going to this place. There are far better Mexican restaurants and the only reason we tried it was because we were branching out to other restaurants in our neighborhood. We will never frequent this place again. Oh and after all was said it done it was a $50.00 bill (including tip). I would have rather had a fast food meal at a reasonable price that what we...
Read moreThe taste of the food was good but the take out order was not. The food was cold; I had to re-warm it when I got home, although it was picked up in less than 10 minutes from the time the food was ordered. The lemonade tastes like water and they forgot to add my side order but it’s on the receipt. After warming up the food it didn’t taste good. I called the manager back as he told me to do and he apologized and offered for me to return for another order. The follow up to the story is that I went back to the restaurant and the manager did not honor what he told me over phone. He was rude and nasty, telling his employees he told me to bring back the food; when in fact he told me to take pictures of the food. Now he said he didn’t want to see any pictures. I offered to go back home to get the food, which was in the trash, and he refused that too. On top of that he had me sitting waiting forever and was not able to tell me when the new order would be ready. He also refused giving me a refund. Him and his staff are rude, nasty, and unprofessional. I will never go back to that restaurant again. I ended up leaving because at that point I wouldn’t trust them...
Read moreThe service was terrible and the restaurant was almost empty. The tacos were dry. There were only two people at the bar and it took 20 minutes to get a glass of water. Then I realized there’s no drink menu and they were charging me whatever they wanted to. I let them know they should have some prices somewhere and when he printed them off the register they were different than what I was told or charged. That proved it. When he said he was working on a new menu I knew what that meant - we are raising prices to whatever we want and you can’t know them in advance unless you ask. I’ve seen restaurants defraud their patrons this way and I don’t support that. The manager was not interested in my concerns and saw no issues, rolled his eyes at me and then made me wait another ten minutes for my check. I’ll never go back. They were more concerned with cleaning glasses and shutting down than ever checking on me. Nobody asked about the food or if I needed anything. No vibe inside and barely a warm welcome - it wasn’t a friendly place like other restaurants in the area where you can go eat alone at the bar and get good service so I absolutely won’t...
