Finally made it out to the new Pizza Ranch in Round Lake Beach! Buffet offered a selection of pizzas, salad bar, rotini pasta and sauce, breadsticks, fried chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuits, dessert pizza and cookie and soft serve cones. I tried to sample as much as I could. Started with a salad of shredded chicken, green pepper, cucumber, red onion and a hard boiled egg. Also tried some pizza bread of jalapeno and bacon. There was a selection of soft drinks and coffee. I brought Joe and he went right for the pizzas and breadsticks. He was not excited because everything either was just cheese, pepperoni, and jalapeno which he doesn't care for. Going back for a seconds, he grabbed a plate of fried chicken, stuffing and mashed potatoes with gravy. By this time there were new pizzas of chicken alfredo, barbecued chicken, and Tuscan style. I took the smallest pieces so I could try each of them. I thought the crust to be like cardboard so I just ate the toppings. Joe liked his chicken plate and I tried a bite which I thought was pretty good. There were a selection of dessert pizzas, a giant sliced chocolate chip cookie and soft serve ice cream and cones. I tried everything but the ice cream and Joe had a cone and cookie. That cookie was delicious and I went back for more! Les, our server stopped by our table and introduced himself. We explained that it was our first time there. He informed us that we are able to ask for whatever type of pizza with whatever toppings we would like the next time we come back. He said he liked one with cream cheese and jalapeno, which sounded good to me with the bacon on that bread. He was really personable and I will look for him again to say hi. After we were finished, we scoped out the game room and it looks like they have some really nice games to play. Maybe I will be taking Silas there in a couple of years. There is some type of reward app that I will look into joining. I'm not sure how often we will stop by being that it was around $35 plus tip for the two of us for lunch, and I would rather just order a nice Pizza from a place that I really enjoy. It is a nice addition to the area and very...
Read moreMy family and I decided to try the newly opened location in Round Lake Beach this week. It was very busy since it just opened. The dining areas are oddly arranged and were claustrophobic. The entrance/exit are so small/close that I could not exit do to people entering that blocked the door. They had to back out of door to outside for anyone to be able to leave. That will be fun in the winter!! The buffet was laid out on a long counter. Most of the food was unlabeled. Most you can figure out but some items (like what was on pizza) we were unsure about. Also, because of the way it was laid out, people just swarmed the counter and really were not taking turns so it was hard to get to the food or see what was available. The food was underwhelming. I was able to get 3 pieces of pizza and 1 piece of chicken before I gave up and was done. The pizza slices are very small BTW. The pizza was a 4 out of 10. The chicken however was an 8 out of 10. My 8 year old grandson only ate a partial plate of tasteless noodles and an ice cream cone and was done. My son had 3 pieces of pizza and an ice cream cone and my husband who is used to crappy navy ship food only had 2 plates and was also disappointed with the food but not as much as the rest of us. We all had drinks too. The reason I listed what we ate was because I feel it was not worth the cost of $80 for 3 adults and an 8 year old. We would have spent less elsewhere for more/better food. We then checked out the arcade. Most of the games cost many credits and you have to buy a card to play them. If you have any credits left over, you can't go back another time to the arcade unless you pay for the buffet again On a positive note, I did see someone checking for cleanliness of tables and making sure they were wiped down. The staff seemed eager to assist and the tables were bused regularly. I will probably never eat here again. The people were great but everything else is...
Read moreIm always up to try a new pizza place, so I was excited to see a new place open up within walking distance from my home. My wife and I went on Saturday for lunch.
1st thing…it’s 20.00 per person for the pizza buffet..granted it’s all you can eat, and the variety of pizzas was interesting. None of them are labeled, so you have to try and guess what is on each one. There is also a salad bar, and a chicken option.
This is just my opinion, but the quality of pizza isnt worth the price to me. It was just a step above Little Caesars quality. The chicken was decent, as was the salad bar.
I really wanted to try the wings, but there didnt seem to be a way to order them outside of the buffet which was a little disappointing. On the website it states that there is a wing buffet on Thursdays, so i’ll at least go back to try that.
The ambiance: think Chuck E Cheese but not as nice. Yes the place was clean and well maintained, but it felt more like a cafeteria than restaraunt. The seating area is pretty small because the other half of the building is an arcade. This is a place to go if you have pre-teen kids and want to get out of the house.
Based ONLY on our initial visit, it’s a 4.5/10
Hopefully the wings are...
