Door says 10pm is when it closes and now they say verbally (basically using their hands and lip signals) that it’s 9pm that they close. Figures that they say 9pm on google now as well. Bottom line is that it still states 10pm on the door.
For any kind of time change or update, as a business, it’s got to go live on every signage or marketing platform before it happens, right away. You set the bar so high, so keep it there.
This doesn’t take away from the taste, atmosphere or friendliness. I’m just disappointed that I was looking forward to this and was shutdown unexpectedly. Didn’t even come to the door to explain the sudden time change or to discuss the posted hourly signage on their door.
Edit:
Just found out on Facebook and around the same time I showed up, they posted an update regarding their hours on the same day (today - after close) it took effect. I posted and was looking for a response on the FB post they had made pitching my experience, but didn’t get an apology or any sort of resolution as far as exercising good customer service. Showcasing how you handle situations like this is good PR that everyone can identify and would want to come back because of how genuine and authentic it is. Instead they deleted it. My review stands as updated on customer service value.

Teriyaki Sushi Grill in Round Lake Beach just opened its doors, and we stopped by on their second day to see what they’re all about. It seemed like the staff was still getting used to the system.
When I ordered, I noticed their system didn’t list all the sides. For example, I asked for white rice, and the cashier said it wasn’t an option in the system. The head cook had to go to a table to table to confirm customer orders.
There were a few hiccups with the soda machine, too—it wasn’t working properly, so they gave me two cans instead.
Starting a new business comes with challenges, and there’s definitely a learning curve here. Hopefully, the owners jump on these little kinks quickly because the potential is there, and a smooth operation makes all the difference.
I’ll think twice...
