After a bad experience at another location, I was hoping for a better one here. I got worse. Service was subpar and the decor of the restaurant is best described as passive-aggressive: consisting of many strange mantras about family and negative criticisms about various things. The food was insultingly bad. Our chips were stale (not to mention that we also had to pay for them) and we never had our drinks refilled. My torta de lengua was basically a mush sandwich containing more cheese than meat. I ordered a taco al pastor and the meat was dry and very tough, almost like it had been sitting on a cold stove all day. A family member ordered the shrimp soup which was very salty and lacking in flavor. The only dish that our group agreed acceptable was the mole enchiladas which were surprisingly ok. I’m not sure how this establishment is maintaining such good reviews, there are many other Mexican restaurants in the area that will offer higher quality food and service. Don’t waste your money here.

Excellent. I've been to most of the Tacos EL Norte locations and they're all good. I believe the different locations are owned by different members of the same family. The recipes and menus do vary from one to the other. The food and service here were great. The chips were especially good. Very crisp fresh and crunchy, not greasy, and were fried in clean oil. Like most Tacos El Nortes, the kitchen is clearly visible, so it's fun to watch the people make the food and you can see how clean things are. This is definitely an above average Mexican restaurant. Highly recommended.

My past experience with Tacos el Norte was wonderful. I will no longer be a patron here as my child found a razor blade in his taco. He’s a picky eater and isn’t to fond of tomato’s and was picking them out when he found a razor. Luckily he wasn’t hurt. I contacted the restaurant to notify them of the issue and was offered an apology and a free meal which will not be redeeming. Health and safety regulations seem to be lacking here.

If there were a place on the website to leave constructive criticism, I would be There reiterating that I do not want anything for free, I just want to order, pay and eat what I paid for. I have been eating Tacos El Norte for Decades. Waukegan, Mundelein, Gurnee, Liberty Ville and Round Lake. Also I have worked in the service industry and have managed two restaurants, and that is just to say that I am sympathetic to the smaller common mistakes. Also, I understand that things happen, especially when places get as busy as this place does, I'm sure due to how good the food is. Our problem is that when we order a meal sans onions & cilantro, that is how we need it. This has been happening more times than not for the last couple of years from the Round Lake location. Most recently two times in a row in the last week, and today after fixing our order because of the mini cilantro salad on top of the tacos, they shorted us a taco(2 instead of 3). Please too, understand that I hear this out loud. And it does seem petty considering that so many people go with out food in this world, but for those of us who choose where to spend our hard earned money, It tends to be with businesses who work just as...

Outstanding! The food was great! The staff was awsome and gracious! Clean facilities with an authentic vibe. I am traveling on business. I arrived in town late. This establishment was nearby and I rushed over to see if they would take me in when it was literally 12 minutes towards their closing time. I was hoping to get a small to-go orger at best. However, the host was gracious enought to alow me in and have a seat to be served while clean up was done around me. Much more than a weary and hungry traveler could expect and hope for! The menu was well planned and organized. They were very attentive to my comfort and needs. I am from Deep East Texas and would be ecstatic to have this Mexican restaurant in my town. (Not to knock the ones we have, because they are damd good as well!) I would have loved to have my wife with me to eat here. Her and I would have made this place our go to eatery! I fully recommend this restaurant to anyone at eany age. Yes, it is family...
