Let me start off by saying the people of Round Rock are truly blessed to have a place like Gino's Italian Restaurant!
I was in town for business in the Austin area and on my way home I wanted to take some food on my trip back. I googled pizza shop's near me and I happen to come across Gino's, I didn't want the same old pizza chain shops and was looking for something local. Given there location, it was an easy stop to pull off of I-35 for a little bit.
I walked in and was greeted very nicely by the hostess and was asked for how many seats I was looking for to be accommodated properly. I then began explaining I was looking more for carry out and seeing that it was looking as if they only did dine in I wasn't sure if I would be able to purchase anything to eat.
However, I was informed that they indeed did provide me a menu and said to look over the menu to see what I was in the mood for. I was placed at the bar side chairs to make my choice while they offered a cup of water while I made my choice. As I sat there looking through the menu trying to decide, this lovely lady was speeding past me asking quickly if I knew what I wanted yet. I was quick to say NOPE, not really. After she said she would return to me after dropping off the two big containers she held in her hand of water and tea. I could tell she is a hard worker and knows exactly what she's after. When she returned to me I explained to her what I had told the hostess. Gina suggested a calzone and in my thoughts that was perfection! We then proceeded to talk ingredients and after i asked to get a lemonade with the order she informed me they don't like serve anything "lemony" because of what it does to your tummy after eating tomatoes. (something I had no idea of) Thank you very much for that quick lesson! Gina took my order and then had informed me she is also the Owner along with Gino himself, who happened to be eating behind the short wall where I placed my order. Her hospitality was above and beyond! Gina made me feel not only as if I was her Son, but also a proud Son to which of course being inside the restaurant felt like home. Of course I had to take a picture and as promised here is the 5 Star review Gina.
I am sending immense love and joy to Gina and Gino for such an amazing environment in which to dine in, or carry out :).
Round Rock is blessed and I feel so lucky I had the opportunity to converse with Gina.
Lets not forget about the food though, Oh, My, Goodness! The Calzone was the best that I have ever had! I can't wait to go back to the area and take family and friends with me to eat here again....

My husband ordered a beer and I had red wine. Waitress sat the wine glass in front of me, I couldn't believe it! She served her customer messy spilled wine all over the glass. She disappeared before I could say something. I didn't want to wine on my clothes, so I thought no big deal I just wipe it myself. The one star was for my husband's chilled beer and mug which he was happy with. Bread was more like dinner roll, not what you would expect from Italian restaurant. Dinner salad was a blah. Dressing was served in a small plastic cup, not what you would expect to see in a restaurant. The two sausages appetizer had no taste. We were staring at our pile of dirty dishes and empty mug for sometime. My husband wanted another beer. Our waitress was MIA.
Our main dishes finally arrived. My husband said his pizza taste like store bought from frozen food section. I had the Combo Platter Montepalciano-Chicken Parmigiana, Lasagna and Fettuccini Alfredo. Which was very salty, chicken was tough and food no taste. Overall appearance of the place is more like a cafeteria with restaurant cuisine pricing. Waitress MIA, we had to take our bill to the register while waitress standing there chatting with her coworker. The lady owner/manager seemed concerned with unhappy customers took $10 off our bill, which we didn't ask for. Worthy of a second star . BTW we were scouting for places to cater our once a week company luncheons in Round Rock. Obviously Gino's won't be...
Read moreHonestly, I would have given it a 2 star! But Service was fenomenal! 5 star on service! Our waitress Christi was attentive and helpful. Checked on us frequently! Mozzarella cheese sticks were ok, honestly tasted like a frozen mozzarella stick. The calamari batter was flavorful. We did love that fact they gave us warm bread with garlic sauce. It was perfect. I ordered spinach cheese Ravioli with alfredo sauce, but honestly, it was very disappointing! The first bite I took, it was just room temperature. Not luke warm nor hot! Even my husband and sister-in-law tried it and agreed it wasn't even warm. We told our waitress, and she did apologize. And had them fixed it. But all they did was stick it in the microwave and added more alfredo sauce on top... I can tell because I had taken a bite of one. surprisedly, it was still in the same position but with more sauce. I work as a waitress, and to me, this is unacceptable and very unsanitary! I was really expecting to be an authentic Italian restaurant. But this just shows me that even the Ravioli was store bought, and they just warm it up in the microwave! I ended up eating a slice of pizza from my daughters pepperoni pizza while I was waiting for my plate to be returned. Honestly, I enjoyed her pizza better than my Raviolis. The pizza was a good decent size portion, being a kids pizza and bonus still temperature hot. We also ordered a bottle of wine. And since we were celebrating my mom's birthday, the waitress brought a complimentary dessert. Service, like I said, was amazing! Christi did a...
