Our Cali friends took us here for dinner and we can see why it's one of their favorite ramen places. It was pretty packed when we got there that we had to put our name on a waiting list. More people even came after us that the waiting area was spilling right out the door (we were a larger party with 4 adults and 3 babies). It took maybe a little under 10 minutes when they were able to seat us.
The place is pretty hip and trendy, mostly attracting the Asian demographic. They have a sushi bar but only one sushi chef working that night. We only found this out when our friend's poke bowl took a long time to be made (but more on that later).
Our server, Andi, took great care of us. She greeted us in a courteous manner and was also very attentive with us. She even brought out water for us AND the little boys almost right away. She gave us a decent amount of time to check out the menu (especially since this was the first time for us out-of-towners) and was even helpful in answering any of our questions. For our order, we got a variety of things and I only took pictures of 2 things, haha! We were so hungry we dug into the food as soon as it was placed on the table. We got the sesame chicken and beef gyoza apps to share. The sesame chicken are small fried pieces of boneless chicken with a side of the sweet chili sauce. The gyoza came with a dipping sauce was also pretty delicious. I got the beef bowl which came with rice and a small little "salad" off to the side, which was only about $6! You could also get, either 4 pieces of sushi for about $3-4 or a whole roll averaging around $10! My husband got the ramen and chose the fatty pork, soft boiled egg on the side in mild soup base. He even got the eel and avocado roll. The food came out at an average pace... With an exception of our friend's poke bowl. When everyone pretty much got their food, our friend was sitting and waiting for his food. When he caught Andi's attention and asked about the poke be bowl, she apologized for the slowness and explained that there was only one sushi chef working at the sushi bar but that his order was in cue. I think after we got our food it took maybe just under 10 min for our friend to finally get his poke bowl. Andi again apologized for the delay and even gave us a discount on the poke bowl at the end of our meal. That itself shows good customer service and they care about the quality of their service. This is how you keep customers coming back...
Read moreI went with two other friends and we had a great time! We ordered a bowl of kopan black ramen, tiger tail sushi roll & gold crunch sushi roll (they're having a special where you get 50% off a second sushi roll if you buy one), and a 3-dish lunch special with Korean bulgogi, shrimp & vegetable tempura, and sesame chicken, which also comes with rice and salad. It all totaled to about $60, or $20 per person. We shared all the food with each other so it was completely worth it. I enjoyed the ramen very much but the chashu wasn't really my taste; I think I would have preferred tofu or all vegetables (my friend ordered the ramen as her main dish, though, so it wasn't really up to me; I was just tasting her food). The tiger tail sushi roll was a little too salty for my taste, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The gold crunch roll was definitely too salty for my taste, but it was my friend's pick and she really liked it. The sesame chicken and shrimp + vegetable tempura were delicious, but the bulgogi was WAY too salty. I've eaten a lot of bulgogi, but that was by far the saltiest I've ever tasted. None of us could finish it, so it was the only thing we left uneaten. Overall, the food was delicious and I would probably come back, but the food tends to be too salty for my taste. The service here also isn't 100% amazing. We came around lunch hour and they're having a special deal right now, so it was pretty busy and we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, but that wasn't too bad. However, we were ready to order as soon as we sat down and it took about 3-5 minutes for someone to actually take our order. And my friend tried multiple times to get a server's attention while we were eating but no one seemed to hear or see her until she got up and directly approached one of the servers. So while I was enjoyed this place, it was probably because I love my friends, because it wasn't a perfect...
Read moreEvery time my boyfriend and I go to this specific Kopan Sushi and Ramen we are extremely impressed, but our meal and time there tonight was just so insanely amazing that I HAD to write a review. First of all, the atmosphere is amazing. The decor is so cool and makes coming here feel like such a special outing (my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant one day while driving out to see friends and we were so impressed that we keep coming even though we live an hour away). I don't know how they do it but at Kopan Sushi and Ramen they've somehow found the top friendliest people in the world and hired them to work there. Our waitress today had the brightest most positive energy I've ever seen in a person, and all of the staff we interacted with throughout the night were so incredibly kind, courteous, and accommodating as well. Now the most important part of a restaurant review- THE FOOD. Which is AMAZING!!! My boyfriend always gets the bento box and I get the chicken cutlet Ramen, mild spiciness level. It's always SO delicious. The noodles are cooked just right. The chicken is always so crispy and perfect (Personal tip: I take my chicken cutlet out of my ramen right when it's served to me because I'm a bit of a slow eater and it prevents the chicken from getting soggy!) Everything is always served hot and fresh. And I don't know what they do to their boiled eggs in the ramen, but they are so creamy and SCRUMPTIOUS. I was so tempted to ask if I could take a box of them to go. I've probably been to at least 30 different ramen spots and they have the BEST eggs I've ever tasted. You have to try it. TRUST ME YOU'LL LOVE IT!! Even the bathrooms are so nice. Everything is so clean and well maintained, major props to the staff...
