This place at first glance is somewhat unassuming. Their restaurant name isn't directly over the entrance and instead have the words "Korean BBQ" in the most generic font ever. This in turn gave off one of those cheap places you'll go to if you had no choice kind of feeling.

The menu here is pretty limited but the prices are quite high. The side dishes, provided free and unlimited, were pretty good, and the servers are your typical Korean old ladies who are pretty passionate about their job.

Now to the food ordered. They have one fish that requires you to order 2 of minimum of you want to eat it. This essentially is a full order for a meal of 3-4 which kind of sucks if you wanted to order other food too. The dish in question is $42 each, and being a mandatory 2 of, makes it $84. The station stipulation can already dissuade a lot of people from ordering this dish, which can be considered one of their signature.

If I had to describe the dish, imagine someone similar to hot pot meat but with the Korean Soup taste you'll have in the morning if you had to those Korean restaurants. The dish itself has enough flavor that you didn't need to use extra sauce when eating.

We also ordered the bibimbap since we thought it might not be good, given the first order has no starch in it. The bibimbap wasn't very good and I would not order it again.

Would I come here again though? Probably not as their prices are somewhat high for the amount of food you get and the variety you have access too. The quality here is pretty good, but in the current economy, I can't really justify eating here vs the many other Korean...

Saw this spot all over socials, so I was really excited to try this spot out.

Parking: Free parking lot.

Ambiance/Environment: We were greeted and seated immediately once we walked in. It’s a very casual spot with booth and table seating. Great for all group sizes.

Service: Shout out to Jung for the hospitality and being attentive, quick, & efficient! She cooked all the meats and vegetables for us, refilled our waters, and checked on us constantly.

Foods:

Seng Bulgogi - A mountain of meat is what they call it. Indeed it is lol! These were grilled thin slices of tender beef with mushroom and vegetables. It’s the perfect hot pot and KBBQ all in one. It was also served with a lot of banchan and a delicious hot sauce. The soup was delicious. Jung taught us different ways of eating this: rice paper+meat, radish+meat, cilantro salad+meat, rice+soup+meat, and noodles+soup+meat. I tried all options and added my own toppings as well. I liked the radish+meat+banchan combo the best!

Yuk Gae Jang - This is a spicy broth with beef, vegetables, and glass noodles. The soup was definitely spicyyy and very flavorful! The noodles and beef were cooked well.

Cinnamon Tea Dessert - Complimentary dessert at the end! I forgot what these were called exactly, but it smelled sooo good! It’s a warm tea (I think) with cinnamon.

Pricing: The portions are definitely worth its price! The Seng Bulgogi is shareable between 2 people! Will be...

If you’re all about an incredible dining experience and a unique cooking method to enjoy Korean BBQ, then you have to try Seng Bulgogi (생불고기) in all its glory at Ong Ga Nae BBQ, located in the SGV’s very own Rowland Heights.

This Korean dish, directly translated as “fresh fire meat,” features thinly sliced unmarinated beef cooked quickly over high heat, often with vegetables and a sweet-savory broth poured over it.

Don’t know how to cook it?🤯👇🏼

Leave the heavy lifting (cooking) to the sweet, attentive staff and enjoy their bountiful offerings of banchan or side dishes while you watch and drool (wait). Dining here may be reminiscent of having a meal at someone’s moms house and I love that feeling🫶🏼

You will see every table in the restaurant order Seng Bulgogi, but there’s also an entire menu of traditional and authentic dishes, like their Dumplings & Sliced Rice Cakes in Beef Broth, my go-to especially on a cold, rainy day🥰

We had: 🍲Seng Bulgogi, 🥟Dumplings & sliced rice cakes...
