Don’t know why I had never tried them before, I lived in Hawaii for 7 years and loved getting Hawaiian plate lunches, came back to the states and really missed them. Last week I tried one in Pomona and loved it it’s almost exactly like the plates you get in Hawaii(only thing missing is the Kim, yes that’s a Korean side but, the Hawaiians have adopted it into their meals). So yesterday I gave it a second try at the one in la puente, it was exactly like the first one.
Update, This last visit makes for my third one, extremely disappointed, 6 hours after eating both myself and my dog(gave her a couple small pieces of the beef) became violently Sick. Luckily I was staying at a hotel or they’d be buying me a new mattress , sheets and comforter. Had to put the dog in the bath tub for the night. Yes it was that bad! Not sure why this time was so bad but, I should have stopped eating it, when that first bite didn’t taste quite right, instead I just added more teriyaki sauce. Really wack first one I been to that they serve there cabbage chopped not shredded and it had a funny taste i didn't eat nothing but some catsu chicken i ordered a usual catsu chicken rice /macaroni salad w/cabbage and the macaroni salad im pretty sure was rotten and the rice undercooked catsu eh tasted like the next day.also WAITED forever for my food. I've had better experience in whittier come on Rowland Heights I expect better food service not to mention i should be left when i saw not many people were in there. Food was just awful didn't like wouldn't go back I love ono hawaiian bbq just not this one. Read moreIt pains me to give a 1 star review, as hawaiian places are few and far between in our area. but...this place sucks. we came here with the entertainment coupon. it is a valid coupon, from a book that i BOUGHT. yes, i paid for coupons. when we got there, they chose not to honor the coupon. the coupon was for $6 a food purchase (and our purchase was over $18)--so you would rather lose a sale rather than give a $6 coupon? in fact, the food was already done (that's how long the cashier was fumbling with the coupon)--so they ended up throwing out the food since we wouldn't pay full price. tell me, am I unreasonable if I come to the establishment, and follow the rules of the coupon to the letter, but they refuse to honor? there was no special substitutions here. bad bad...
