I consider Top Taste to be one of the best Jamaican restaurants in the Palm Beach area so it was not a difficult decision to plan a trip to this new location to enjoy their buffet breakfast/brunch. On Sunday, 2/3/19, I invited family and friends (8 total) to enjoy this breakfast/brunch starting at 11. We got there at 11:30 am, to avoid the rush, as we were told that it gets crowded after 1 pm. With hungry bellies and huge appetites we were extremely disappointed to see upon arrival that they had just started putting out the food. We waited for about 40 minutes and paid the whopping $16.99 (was told the cost was $15.99 the day before) per person. We were then given a single plate (unlike a typical buffet where the plates are put out for you to take them). No eating utensils were available and no cups for cold drinks or a hot beverage. We started helping ourselves to the food having to open up all covers as no food labels (typical of any buffet) were placed near the food for you to know what was under each lid. Finally after begging for utensils to eat and a bowl for the porridge we sat down to enjoy. Wow! What a disappointment. The food was cold!!! Yes folks, cold green bananas and yellow yam, cold dumplings, cold porridge, cold chicken, cold liver etc etc. The ackee and sailfish was kept behind the counter and that had to be served to us. Quickly they ran out of ackee and salt fish and note it was only 8 of us! And yes, cold food meant the food was not cooked fresh that morning. We all understood that some Jamaican foods could have been cooked before, but now we were wondering about the freshness of it all. Finally we asked if there was anything to drink and a server helped us with some ginger beer (all sodas) which no one liked. Did I mention that they were highly understaffed? One poor lady was at the front handling the cash register, trying to serve take out customers and basically running around being a jack of all trades and master of none. One lady cut her finger and had a piece of tissue trying to bandaid the bleeding, obviously no emergency medical kit on site. Blood around food in a public area!! Totally unacceptable! At that point we all decided to leave absolutely disappointed, miserable and mostly still hungry! I could have written a lot more about this negative experience, but not enough time. I love my people and support entrepreneurs, but Top Taste please consult maybe the Asians or a professional on how to effectively and efficiently...
Read moreHonestly can’t explain how much I love this place! The food is soooo good and sooo affordable and they give alot of food! I go very often. I prefer this location to the one down the street in Royal Palm but still very good! The people are usually nice too. It’s clean and quick. Great lunch specials. So far I’ve tried the oxtail, brown stew chicken, fried chicken & jerk chicken! My only complaint is that the jerk chicken is EXTREMELY spicy BUT that’s a me problem not a them problem lol. Gotta get my tolerance up! Oh I do want to add there is a discrepancy with the hours they are open and what it shows online (mostly apple maps) I’ve been twice when it showed open and it wasn’t actually. That’s how I tried their other location, bc the one on Royal...
Read moreA month ago, I went from never having Jamaican food in my life. After walking into this restaurant 3 1/2 weeks ago, I can honestly say Jamaican food is part of my weekly diet! The people behind the counter are so welcoming and helpful! I love spicy and the jerk chicken is Godly! It has just the right amount of kick. My son isn’t a fan of spicy, but when I brought home a container full of their famous fried chicken needless to say he wouldn’t share it with me! If you’re curious about what Jamaican food is all about this is the place to teach you. The culture is exceptional. The food is outstanding today. I’m skipping breakfast Just so I can justify going...
