Read moreWe live locally, less than 20 minutes walking, and came by for some beers to see if it could be a regular spot for us.
The beers are good and the service was pretty good too. The brewery is a very nice atmosphere, and a great addition to RPB. One thing that was upsetting for us was the taproom closes at 8pm. At around 7:30 we were asked if we would like to order anymore drinks before they make last call announcement so we ordered a beer to split.
At 7:45 they started cleaning up (totally normal) I finished my beer but my companion had still 3/4 of theirs, we looked around and saw another table had full beers.
We had to wait about 5 minutes for someone to pass by (two employees were cleaning and one was chatting with customer, no big deal). At 7:50 our server came by and I asked if I could get a beer and the check. The response was "Sorry the taps are already closed" meaning someone put Caps on them, not that they disconnected kegs, shut off the gas and drained the lines..
We responded with ok, no problem as it's not a big deal to stop serving when you are closed (no official last call) we figured they'd just pull a cap off, pour a beer, and take our money, but still no big deal.
We settled up and watched two people walk in as we were walking out. They were promptly served... The cap was pulled off the taps and beer was pouring.
This was very disheartening to see as it made us feel like we were not welcomed warmly upon our departure as much as someone else who more frequently visits the taproom upon their late entry.
During our visit we were just talking about how it is so close and we should make it a frequent stop since we're local to it. But being lied to about "the taps being closed" only to see beer pouring for someone else after we walked out the door left us feeling worse than when we walked in excited about making it a new spot for us.
Would have been 4 stars but as someone who has worked a bar for more than 10+ years, customer service wise it should have been, hey Let me go ahead and get you a beer this time but for future reference we do last call at this time.
Sad about the inconsistent treatment of guests, as it seems like more of a clubhouse (you come here more we’ll treat you better). Instead of building a customer base. Our money is as good as...
Read morePatrick was our bartender/server.
We got there Friday night at about 5:50. You have to stand online to order your beer and wine. Well the bartender and the guy in front of me were having a chat (even though the customer already had their beer) Finally, I walk up to the counter and asked what they had on happy hour. Patrick said "Sorry happy hour is over" I said "really, we've been standing in line" and he said 'whoa ok, calm down, I will honor it for you' like really? Then I said to him we have never been here before do you have wine. He said "Keep it simple" really dude, like you do realize you're in the service industry and this isn't going well. I said "red wine" as in can you get any simpler and he said Cabernet I said fine. Then my husband goes to order and he tells my husband "You need to calm her down"!!! I am just like what is wrong with this dude.
So I got my wine, hubby got his beer and we went to the table our friends were already sitting out. They bragged about how great this place is. I told them what just happened and they all said "its just now 6pm" !! So now I am more in like wow mode.
The second time I went to go get a drink I was going to get hubby a "flight" of beer. They have 2 size glasses (think large and small) so I picked up the glasses that were in the front for display purposes only and picked them up to turn around for my husband to let me know which size he wanted. Patrick says "Dont touch the glasses" ok, but I can touch this menu, and the counter and the iPad thing. These glasses are clearly for visual only because they even have the different sizes in one piece of wood so I was not touching a glass someone else was going to be served.
We have our wine and beer and we go to look at the menu. It is a really interesting menu. They have home made hummus platter, wraps, sandwiches etc. I ordered the hummus platter, hubby ordered the Buffalo Chicken cuban.
All the food was delicious, the beer and wine was good but Patrick really should take some classes on service...
