Royal Palm Makeb's Bagels & Deli — Restaurant in Royal Palm Beach

This place is located on the outskirts of a very big (Walmart) plaza: you will always find a parking spot and the gas station close to its building has always cheap prices! That’s actually how we ended up there the first time: we were looking for gas at a decent price during the last shortage caused by bad weather.

Since it was raining we decided to have our meal there, instead of bringing it home, at the only free table available: at 10:00am the place was full!

I had a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese: I loved it, although the cream cheese was probably too much. In fact, when I ordered it again just a few days ago, I skipped the cheese entirely, and it was even tastier.

My husband had a sandwich instead: it was good but nothing so special (in fact, the last time we went, he decided to get a bagel instead).

The biggest surprise I had about this place, however, is the coffee. I am a very picky coffee drinker, I only like espresso and the only American coffee I drink is at Panera Bread (just because I mix all the coffees that they have, and add milk). The first time we came here I didn’t notice that they also offer espresso, so I reluctantly ordered an American coffee, and asked for milk on the side: when I tasted it, it was so good that I didn’t even add milk! The last time instead I wanted to try the espresso, and that didn’t disappoint either.

Excited to explore this area, we dropped into Makeb's for breakfast on-the-go, but decided to stay and eat. Workers were quiet and busy. Would be helpful to understand the menu better. We ordered 2 breakfast bagel sandwiches and coffee. Paid and waited 15 entire minutes for our order to be ready. This place had a heavy flow of customers in and out for breakfast. When we got our food and self-serve coffee, we sat down and ate. Food was definitely fresh, 3 solid stars. But there were no additional flavors, sauces, spices added to our sandwiches. Dry and bland. Food to sustain but would love some flavor. Or even mayo or spreads. This place was a no-fluff type of breakfast place. Don't expect more than just ingredients cooked up and served. Clean restaurant.

I will give them that it was busy and Mother’s Day, but we place our order. There is one blueberry bagel left. We order it for our son. The woman takes it to start making his bagel. The bald guy working tells another customer they ran out of a bagel she wanted. She says she’ll take a blueberry. The guy takes it out of the other workers hand and puts it in her bag. Of course our order gets called. There were only two bagels in the bag, not three. The woman gives me a look when I tell her his bagel is missing. I call her and the guy out for giving away my four year old’s order to someone else. No apology, nothing. I demand my money back and leave. Will not...
