It's great to see a new restaurant/brewery in Royce City. I was excited to try this place out, but sadly left disappointed. Here's why.... We were seated promptly, as it was pretty dead (odd for a Friday night before a holiday weekend but maybe because its new?). Once we were seated we were given menus. The menus were photocopies that had seen better days. (Stained, crumbled).. it was pretty gross to be honest. Once seated, it took 20 min for the wait staff to finally approach our table. 20 MINUTES!!! (and this was only because I went up to the hostess and asked about it) Finally, the waitress came over and we started to order drinks and apps. Here's where it gets worse and made for a terrible experience. A friend ordered Dr Pepper, and it tasted terrible so he asked the waitress if it was "fake" or another brand. She kept saying no, then eventually told us it was an off brand. (not sure why it was such an issue, and why it was not presented to us when ordering). Next, we ordered an appetizer without onions and peppers. The dish arrived with the toppings so we sent it back and they had to remake it. When it came time to order a friend asked what the "mixed spring greens" were on a sandwich to which our waitress replied "its like guacamole"? I corrected her, and said that is just lettuce. He then asked the waitress to have it removed from the sandwich, and she replied "i'm sorry i dont think I can, but I will check in with the chef". You cant remove lettuce from a sandwich?? Clearly the waitress has no idea about basic menu items, and seemed a bit flakey to put it lightly. It also took her a good 3-4 minutes to type in the order for each person into the tablet. I've never in my life seen someone take an order so slowly. I love a good Ruben sandwich so I ordered that, which looked great online but I was not a fan of it. It was more of a sauerkraut sandwich as there was twice as much sauerkraut as there was meat. The bread was also soggy so I could not eat it as a sandwich. Finally it was time to pay the bills and leave. I'm glad I tried it, but will not be returning. I will add that the drinks were quite good, but the food and service were very...
Read moreI tried this place a year ago when they opened and had a terrible experience from the quality of service to the quality of food didn't write a review because I figured they would figure things out and get their staff and cooks trained up. Because that is what the management said was the problem. So I retried the last night. This was my experience o ne year later. Walked in with my family and set at a table. Set at the table 5 minutes before the waitress asked us what we would like to drink. We got our drink within 2 minutes. After that, it all went downhill. Ordered appetizer spicy green beans. That took 15 minutes. I noticed that the table that set next to us that set down 10 minutes after us was brought out the same appetizer we ordered. I brought this to our server's attention and she said the other server must have grabbed our appetizer. When I said you left it in the expo window too long she had not her but excuses. Even offered to get a manager but no manager attempted to even come to touch our table. So we ordered and realized it was getting hot in the restaurant. No AC!! Ok, oh well been hot before. Food came out and it was so sub-pair. Fries cold their so-called famous burger was terrible pre-made hamburger patty was some how famous. That honestly is dis honest.. This place hasn't raised it standards in one year and it doesn't give customers a positive dinning experience. We even talked to the table next to use and they felt the same way. This place is embarrassing to the food industry! You have to be service-minded and care about your customer's experience. Stop embracing your own excuses and get out of your own way. If you're going to run a restaurant & bar manage. I would suggest you go do your due diligence and mirror a successful competitor or somethingg or your...
Read moreMy wife and son and I recently came in for dinner. We walked in, it seemed to have a great atmosphere and not too overly crowded. It most likely was due to the weather. We go to our table and was greeted by Chasity (apologies if misspelled). She was awesome. Give that woman a raise. That's how waitstaff should be. Nice, pleasant, and just a seemingly great person. Then the food. I ordered the Bettie Burger. I had asked if it can be prepared medium. While waiting for our food, my son had noticed by the front door some toys for the kids. So the little fire station and firetruck kept him occupied while we waited for our food. Always a great idea. Also throughout the visit the owner ( I assume) would walk around checking on people. Which is always nice once. We noticed that he was wearing a very political based t-shirt. I can only speak about myself, but I was raised that there are two things you don't talk about. No matter which side of the political fence you sit on, keep it to yourself. It would have been fine, except that a lot of the tables that he stopped at started very loud conversations about it and it was very off putting. So back to the food. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were great. Not exactly what I knew from my childhood, but good none the less. The burger and fries came out. The fries needed salt. I know that's a little nit picky , but when them fries come out of the fry basket, they should be salted immediately. The burger, on first appearances, looked just absolutely delicious. Cut into it. Not how I ordered it. Done all the way through. Ok, I thought. Maybe if it was cooked right it won't be dry. Took a bite, yep dry as can be. Strike three. You may like it, you may not. That was my experience, and we will probably...
