Ole Taco — Restaurant in Ruidoso

Disgusting food. This was our first time at this restaurant and we were so let down. We read the amazing reviews and wanted to support local businesses but my goodness this restaurants food is bland, dry, and literally went directly into our trash bin. The taco shells are from Walmart and are not cooked but stale. The ground beef and chicken is flavorless. The beans were bland and dry, as well as the rice. Literally the best thing on our plates was the tomato and lettuce. The salsa was made with some strange smelling chili and was bitter. We will not visit this restaurant again when we stay in Ruidoso. We were very unhappy with our experience. The best Mexican food in Ruidoso is Garcia's Mexican Restaurant while Jorge's is second... unfortunately Jorge's was closed today (Wednesday) and we wanted to try a different restaurant other than Garcia's because we have eaten there so many times during our trip already. As I pulled up to this little hole-in-the-wall, I was skeptical on how good it would be. When I entered the extremely tiny dining room, this didn't help my first impression either. The staff, however, were very friendly and appreciative we chose their place. We ordered to-go an enchilada plate and second with a taco and relleno. Upon returning to our hotel, we found the salsa they make was really flavorful. The enchilada sauce (both red and green) was amazing. I don't know how they season their refried beans, but they were extremely good and unique...I've never tasted beans like that before. The taco meat was seasoned well. I asked around and everyone said this was the place! Maybe it just wasn't my night... I arrived at 7:45pm and waited at the order window for about 10 minutes with another lady who had called in and waited even longer. Then I decided to go back to my car and call in a take out order. I waited on hold for 12 minutes and then got disconnected. Persevering, I called back; got a person who told me there were 6 tickets ahead of me. I asked her if she could give me food!
