My husband and I drove through Russellville on our way to Paris, TN. Luckily it was lunchtime. Google brought up Vickie's From Scratch Home Cooking....our kind of place...so we stopped. Don't let the plain facade next to a laundromat deter you. Vickie's is the real deal! This was a Monday and they were hopping. I could have ordered half the menu it looked so good. Settled on basic bacon and eggs (wonderful!) because they came with three homemade buttermilk pancakes. They offer 4 types of homemade compote for $2 extra (worth double), and our server, Tamera, recommended blueberry. Really fresh and flavorful....not at all cloying or overly sweet like premades are. A shout out to Tamera....very sweet and personable and competent!!
The coffee was smooth, and made even better by a dash of Secret Syrup. This syrup I think qualifies them for the Nobel prize. We bought a jar to take home.
The entire staff helped refill drinks, bring out food, and checked to make sure everything was ok. In this age of lousy customer service and staff that is disinterested at best and rude at worst....the folks at Vickie's are friendly and competent. They really know how to make strangers feel welcome.
Because of my job, I have eaten at restaurants all over the world. Vickie's is solidly in my top ten. They just don't make them like this anymore. Go out of your way to visit....you will...
Read moreHave been here at least 5 times now all before 2 pm. 4th time here I got to meet Vicky's husband/manager and my last time I finally got to meet the woman whom the resteraunt is named after. The famous " Vicky" She is quite the lady I already ordered my new favorite sweet potato pancakes with their secret syrup and I noticed on the special board they had waffle with strawberry and lemon curd topping. Vicky was kind of waiting on us making report with us and I asked her about the waffle cause I love anything with lemon and it was something different I've never heard of so when I mentioned it she said she would make us one. OMG! I did have to have my friends try this because I needed to still save room for my s.p. pancakes. We all oood and awwwed over it. Loved it!!! Highly recommend this special if you ever see it. This is now my new favorite restaurant in Russellville and I'm quite the foody sort of person so if I recommend this place I think you should go to Vicky's and try it out for yourself And see that I am correct that this restaurant is the one to go to in Russellville above all the others. Plus they have a very inviting environment to bring your friends and family too. Go a head take a chance on Vicky's.... You won't regret...
Read moreSorry, but Vicki’s did not cut it for me. The eggs are not scrambled. It’s like a sheet of eggs cooked on one side and they were too wet for my liking. It reminded me of Cracker Barrel eggs, which I do not order because of this same issue. The texture was weird. Scrambled Eggs should be yellow, fluffy pieces. The bacon was so light and flimsy, it looked like it was microwaved. I was excited to try the banana bread pancakes because I love banana bread, but they were cooked on one side only and they were flat and again texture was off and did not have much flavor. The sweet tea was very light and tasted like sugar water. I wish I had taken pics. I thought we were getting hash browns since that’s what the menu called them, but they were actually like home potatoes. A young man who worked there, who I believe was the manager, was extremely nice, professional, understanding and apologetic when I showed him all the things wrong with the food. I only tasted one bite of each item and he told us not to worry about paying anything. The place was very clean and would be a good place to go if they worked on perfecting the cooking of their basic menu items like scrambled...
