I would like to write about the great tacos, the awesome churros, the boring beans and rice or the delicious sweet jamaica. However I'm writing about the owner. I saw the "Days since last Karen incident: 01" sign by the register. Funny!
Imagine my surprise when I see some white woman harassing a little girls birthday party in the seating area as I'm finishing dinner? How could this be? Then I overheard this woman in fact owns Taco Street. She's hassling a black family in 'her' seating area.
The party informs her that they are here to eat at Taco Street and just setting up their cake/party. The woman proceeds to tell one of the employees to "keep an eye on them". The employee to their credit goes "for what?" in genuine curiosity. What part of people patronizing your business and having a birthday requires policing. What part of a little girls birthday party do you need to be alert to? When the candles are being lit? Are you going to join in singing to the birthday girl?
And if "oh actually it's fine." Then why do you need to hassle this family, at all? If it's fine, leave them alone except to say Happy Birthday. Trying to grin and bear being made to feel unwelcome, by the owner supposedly, and still giving that birthday all your attention is a gift of love. I can't imagine the righteous indignation if the roles were reversed, if someone came to your child's birthday and even insinuated that you weren't meant to be having fun there, that you don't belong. You would be apoplectic! You would bite that person's head off! And yet here you wander into a Sunday afternoon and throw your weight around, for what?
I hope that you consider your views and grow your...

Again, the Queso Barbacoa Tacos are super delicious and tasty but quite messy, so just use lots of napkins. Lots of fresh hot sauces available along with pickled onions and jalapenos,
Only negative is that the tables are not wiped down between customers so be sure to do that yourself before sitting down.
July 2023 update: Stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon and placed our order for Queso Barbacoa Tacos without any line in front of us. 7 mins later, our order was ready to be devoured. Queso Barbacoa Tacos are super delicious and tasty but quite messy, so just use lots of napkins. The milder green sauce is quite tasty and a perfect addition with a few pickled red onions.
The 2nd time we visited this restaurant since we had such a great experience the first time one month earlier. Delicious and tasty Barbacoa (Birria) Tacos. Cooked to perfection and ready within a few minutes for pickup at the order window. Ample seating with plenty of green/red hot/mild sauces to choose from and marinated onions to add to your tacos. These tacos were the best I've had and very tasty. We placed two orders (3 tacos each) which was perfect for us (2 for my wife, and 4 for me). Reasonably priced and located in a new updated mini-mall located...
Read moreUnfortunately nothing to write home about. I placed my order online and had to wait 30 minutes to pick it up, no issue there. When I arrived, they didn't have my order ready and in fact hadn't started making it yet. Luckily, I wasn't in too much of a hurry so I hung out.
After 5 or so minutes they called my name and informed me that they were out of guacamole. That hurt... They tried to sell me on queso and although I wasn't feeling it I decided, "hey, it can't be that bad." I was wrong, very very wrong.
I have never experienced queso with that flavor profile before and I've had it many times consistently throughout the years. From school "nacho" queso to all of delectable types in Austin, Texas and S. America. This was SO bad that I threw it away and I rarely ever throw away food, especially food I paid for. If it's edible, I'm eating it!
Next up were the jalapeno poppers. They were adequate, tasted like your typical frozen jalapeno poppers. And for the price, I'm not disappointed! It would have been nice to have a sauce to dip it in but again it was a great deal.
I ordered two tacos that were much better than the queso and jalapeno poppers. There was a lot more meat than typical which I appreciated. The flavors again didn't excite me but it's Mexican food in Washington. The rice was bland but brightened up easily with the plethora of salsas they offered at no...
