Went to Bananas last night for the first time, overall it was a very good experience and I would definitely go back again.
Comedians - Anthony Rodia and Goumba Johnny were fantastic. Definitely recommend seeing them on their tour! The show did look like a legit sellout. After the show, Anthony gave out signed photos and also took pictures with everyone who wanted one (both at no cost). They were also selling tour T-shirts for $20.00 each.
Parking - There were plenty of open spots when we arrived prior to the show, however when we left the lot seemed pretty full. I only saw 2 empty spaces when leaving. I would recommend getting here on the earlier side for a show and not coming at the last minute. There was also only 1 show last night so I can see how this can be an issue on a night with both an early and a late show. It’s also in a hotel so a busy night could lead to even less parking.
The Club – You need photo ID and the email confirmation when you check in to go to your seats. The line moved very quick to get in. We had “reserved” seats and wound up getting seated right in front of the stage. The General admission seats were just a little farther back but it is a small “conference” room in the hotel. No matter where you sat it didn’t seem like there was a bad seat. From our seats it sounded great and there were no audio issues. The room is very plain, just tables setup with chairs and a small stage with a blue curtain behind it. Nothing fancy, but for a comedy show it worked. With the exception of a few tables up front for 2 people each, you will sit next to other people at a larger table.
Service – Was very good and quick. Our waitress came over multiple times throughout the night and we did not have to wait long for our drinks to come out. She did not take a credit card when we ordered and took it from us when we paid our check. The bill came about 15 minutes before the show ended which was a perfect time for that. They do add a 18% “service charge” into the check.
Food – We did not eat, however the people sitting next to us did and they enjoyed the food. Appetizers, Burgers, Pizza, etc… were on the menu and ranged from $7.00 to about $24.00. A lot of people ordered food and it all looked very good when it was coming out. I would not hesitate to order food if I was hungry the next time I go here.
Drinks – They had beer, wine, mixed drinks, soda, water, etc… on the menu. There were no prices listed, however we were drinking Corona Light’s and they were $9.00 each. That’s the same price that the bar was charging in the lobby for a bottle of beer. Pretty expensive in my opinion, but it is what it is. Kind of expected the higher prices going in so it wasn’t a huge surprise. Not sure how much the other drinks were going for but I would think the hard alcohol would be priced higher. The high price for this is the only reason it is a 4 star...
Read moreComedy club? More like a college fraternity run event. First and foremost, all of the employees were nice and doing their best with what they had to work with for the Anthony Rodia show. His first joke was welcome to the Rutherford DMV to give you an idea how small and crammed it is.
Anthony Rodia, A++++++++++. He lives up to the hype and had us laughing non stop for an hour. Goomba Johnny was also funny.
The venue itself is a hotel conference room. Very small which is 100% ok. Maybe about 200 people tops. It’s clean and the bathrooms are close so you don’t miss much, unless you have to drop a deuce then I don’t know what to tell ya. There was no AC which is absurd. I know shit happens but I’m getting to the absurdity. They had little fans trying to make it accommodating which we appreciated. HOWEVER, we were told that it has been broken for 3 months!! 3 months!!! That’s just unacceptable.
Our cocktail waitress was beyond awful. There’s a two drink minimum (which you are lucky if you even get two) because she took our order and and forgot the next order. The next time we saw her, she said, “hey I’m closing out”. I’m still waiting for my 2 Heinekens on my couch. Also there’s a reason why there are no prices on the drink menu. $79 for 3 Margaritas and a beer. 😂😂. Insanity. Real comedy clubs are cheaper.
The tickets themselves were $86 for two which is definitely a steal. But in closing, I don’t care if they got George Carlin out of the grave there, I wouldn’t be going back unless there were drastic changes. I wish them the best though. All in all, we did have a good time and it was a nice date night out. So...
Read moreWe came in a party of 4 .. bought our tickets online.. I’ve never been to this location, but the hotel & lobby were really nice. The bar outside was really nice.. but I’m giving a review on the comedy show/club not the actual hotel ..so here we go ! why it’s getting two stars.. so they actually are utilizing the conference /banquet room of the hotel, which is fine, but they had the long rectangle tables set up like I was at a work meeting and we all had to turn our necks to look at the stage …. They didn’t even set up the tables in a different formation to be able to look str8 forward... It literally was like we were at elbow to elbow ,work conference. It was so uncomfortable and so poorly set up that it made us not wanna go back again. There is Nothing cozy here. Their website says—- “the hottest craft beers, as well as a full spread of entrees, desserts, and homespun cocktails in a relaxing, cozy atmosphere.” First two different beers we ordered from their list, They didn’t have any more -they were out. 🤨 of course after we try to get a server to stop. They ask for a credit card just to hold for the order which is fine, so then at the end when we wanted to split the bill, they charge the full amount to the card that they were holding without even telling us and besides the fact that our server was terrible and we couldn’t even get her to come back and bring us a drink . every time we tried to get her attention it would take her about 15 or 20 minutes. They had the nerve to charge us a gratuity. I’m sorry I’m not giving you a tip if you’re terrible -at least not...
