This Family owned Charmer in Rutherford is a must experience if you love a coffee and pastry vibe! Seasonal items all the time, fresh made bakes until it sells out (and things DO sell Out)
*pro tip: the bird catches the worm. There's always things to buy, but stock starts running low by 12ish! It gets busy but lines move relatively quick!
Ambiance: Located right off Park Ave on Franklin Ave, is a little Coffeeshop and bakery with a beautiful rustic vibe, upon entering you see counter decorated with both savory and sweet pastries and baked goods! There's no indoor seating as it's quite cozy but they do have a few cute tables for outdoor seating and standing tables on the windows which is nice! There's a little area on the wall that's got some fun merch like tea, totes, and cute cups!
Food: Variety is the spice of life and Erie brings us an array of both Savory and Sweet for every pallet! They take alot of global influence in their sweets, like bringing us Arabic bread, and using ingredients like ricotta in some of their pastries! There's a variety of seasonal items and some staples like their cinnamon rolls, scones and biscuits! Everything is prepped fresh while most of us are asleep and coffee brewed fresh for maximum flavor! Trust when I say this bakery isn't just full of cupcakes, there is an array of flavors for everyone with even sandwiches served on Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays!
Overall Service: I've been here a few times already and each time whether busy or slow, the kindness and pride in service is the same! Everyone at the counter is so sweet and will always go one by one with telling you the pastries when you ask what everything is! Remember if you want a place to sit down, make sure the weather is nice to try and grab one of the tables for a coffee, pastry and chat because there's no room to sit inside. Inside is just for the...
Read moreA slice of heaven hidden on a side street in Rutherford. This shop is adorable, and had such an incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere. It reminds me of coffee shops in the village (NYC). The options were so exclusive , I felt like I had to try them all and definitely over ordered. The coffee was spectacular. Exceptional quality and they used my favorite style of ice. The one thing I would pass on would be the cookie. It was good but so rich , between the two of us we took a few bites and were done. It is also very crispy. If you are into super dark chocolate, crispy almost merengue style cookies with walnut, this will be a big hit for you. The lemon pie was out of this world. The crust was perfection. Everything about this slice of pie was chefs kiss. The Dulce de leche brownie was soft, flavorful and rich. The baker here is definitely heavy handed with the cocoa in the best way. The absolute show stopper, is this orange olive oil bunt baby. Oh my my my my. This is the head turner right here. Go get this now. It is too good to put into words. And lastly, just to make myself feel like I had some kind of protein, I got the egg and ham bread. It was okay. Still great, but nothing could compete with that orange olive oil Bundt. Run… and get 50. Additionally, I would like to comment on how sweet the staff at this location is. There were two ladies working and I believe one to be the owner. She placed a hot pastry on top of a chocolate chip cookie in a to go box, so by the time her customer goes to eat..the pastry warms up the cookie. One genius. And two… you have my business for life…. Or as long as I can afford to buy larger pants. Thank you for making this rainy day such a delight. Absolutely recommend, will...
Read moreIf you're expecting a large assortment of the ubiquitous bakery offerings, this place is not for you. The selection, while fairly small, is flawlessly executed. I bought apple cake, gluten free cookies, gluten free scones and other goodies on the advice of staff-- all in all, seven different things. I didn't need the staff's encouragement. Every single thing looked, and was, superb -- right down to the latte. The apple cake has me in a choke hold: not sweet, moist, tinged with vanilla and cinnamon and utterly ridiculous in its simplicity. I went back for a second, then third. Having grown up in Europe, these are the kind of sweet treats I miss most: not laden with sugar but with vanilla, cinnamon, almonds, walnuts. I live 50 minutes away and will happily drive back to get my fix. The staff is knowledgeable, pleasant, friendly. And the baker...
