But the present owners have done a marvelous job, focusing on cocktails and small plates, with everything made inhouse as much as possible. We had the chicken parmesian and the potato pave and a house salad. They bread the chicken right there. With a delicious homemade tomato sauce and a mouth-watering dollop of Parmesan. The potato pave is something I have never had and it was wonderful. 1 in by 1 in by 3 in cuts of potato prepared over a 15 hour period. And served with aioli sauce. Scrumptious! Did Rutland just score a great new cocktail bar? I think so!
The cocktails we tried were excellent and you could tell the mixologist is passionate! Not only was the presentation great but the drinks were divine. I can tell they're just getting started and felt like they had some of their summer furniture in limbo but I imagine within a month or so they'll get everything ready for the winter season.
I am excited to go back and try the food as the dishes seemed inspiring as well. The mixologist mentioned they have cocktail classes on the first Monday of each month which sounded really interesting too.
Props to the team at the Mad Rose for bringing something downtown and the greater Rutland/Killington area really needs!
