Showed up around 8pm to start the night, slow time. Ordered a vodka/baileys/rocks (try it before you knock it) and received a glass with a little less than half of it full of booze. Cost about $9. Cashed out, added $1 tip.
Went to check out the back bar and ordered the same drink. This time it was filled almost to the top of the glass and cost about $8. I'm a happy camper as this is what I'm used to. Cashed out, added $1 tip.
Why a 1 star review? Because on my CC statement I have one charge for $9.62 (the good drink from the back bar) and one charge for $17.09, the crappy drink from the main bar. So, not only did that bartender short me on a pour, she apparently wrote in an $8 tip for the trouble of lifting her arm.
I could complain to management, drive in, hope they keep good records, etc, but at the end of the day the fact that this happened at all is worth the 1 star review, and I'm not someone who writes reviews. An establishment is only as good as it's employees.
It has a lot of great reviews, so I guess just keep your receipts and you should be okay. I'll...
Read moreVisited after work on a Wednesday. Located in a newer strip mall with a large Safeway and an interior courtyard area where Capitol Beer and Tap is located. I parked on the Fair Oaks Blvd side of the building, and there seemed to be easier parking on that side. Three areas, narrow room with the bar and draft, narrow bottle shop, and a large patio area. Bar has 21 beers on draft, available as full or 5 oz pours. Selections with well chosen locals and rare national craft. Which I would have had time to have a beer, as the list was impressive. The bottle selection is smaller, but the quality is handpicked and crazy. I had not seen Heater Allen and 3 Fonteinen on shelves in a long while. Service was superb, great conversation and...
Read more20+ beers on tap plus a bottle-shop means there's always something for everyone. Do you like IPA, dark beer, sour, barrel-aged, Belgian, cider? It's on tap. There's always options from within California, and always options from out-of-state. There is always a nitro tap. There's a beer under 5% and a beer over 10%. The bartenders are fun. Music is usually good but genre varies. Prices are on the steep side, but every beer has a full or half-pour option, and there are usually one or two budget options. Both taps and bottle-shop rotate regularly, and based on your feedback to what's on tap, bartenders make solid bottle-shop recommendations. If you are looking for the pinnacle of freshness, though, keep an eye on the...
