So glad we finally came here! I was impressed by a number of things: The menu variety: there should be no excuse for someone to not find something that fits their palate and hunger level. The ease of ordering: from counter service, to kiosk mode and self order at your table this, by far, has to be the most flexible restaurant I’ve seen. Restaurant layout: I really enjoyed seeing multiple points to grab silverware, napkins etc. and not feel like you’re needing to crowd around one spot with a handful of other patrons. The restrooms were easy to locate and the navigation to the patio was easy. I’ve been in restaurants where things feel like a maze, that was not the case here. Food quality: the food tastes fresh and farm-to-fork as advertised! You can tell that plates are curated to fit together with each bite; no substitutions needed!!
Areas I think could be improved: Cocktail offerings: there’s no liquor here! A refreshing white linen to pair with a chicken Caesar salad would be fantastic but you’ll have to opt for a white wine instead. The menu details and readability: there’s A LOT on the menu. That’s not just a pro but also a con. Because there’s so much on the menu, it’s difficult to process, which I think is taken care of by having multiple points to order from so you don’t need to hold up the line deciding what you want, however; the menu items don’t have detail on what all goes into a plate. For example: the steak sandwich could be a chimichurri steak sandwich, or it could be a BBQ sauce steak sandwich but it ended up being some type of aioli which, don’t get me wrong, was DELICIOUS but knowing what type of steak sandwich it would be may influence your final decision.
Overall: amazing and just what this area needed. Patty, their sous chef, came by to say hi and gave us a chocolate chip cookie which was tasty and she was very friendly! Can’t wait for our...
Read moreUrban plates just popped up in our neighborhood so it was the choice for tonight’s date night.
Entering into the restaurant the place is so cool looking it’s urban and rustic. I do like how you can order ahead, walk up and order, order at a kiosk or even order at your table and I love having different options so that I didn’t need to wait in the hella long line.
I ordered the chicken strip plate with Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts
My wife ordered the surf and turf with roasted potatoes and sesame broccoli and we had to try the seafood chowder.
Everything was kinda just meh… the soup was watery had a hint of spice but really no other flavor and it was luke warm.
My wife’s steak was gamy tasting but her potatoes were very good. The sesame broccoli also lacked flavor it tasted steamed with a little sesame oil drizzle maybe.
My Mac and cheese also lukewarm had a good cheddar taste but was also slightly watery and gritty all at the same time.. but I did enjoy the cheddar flavor.
Roasted Brussels sprouts also tasted steamed were lukewarm and had a slight balsamic drizzle. The chicken strips were good especially after I added a little salt 😂
Even the side of bread they gave us I had high hopes for but it kinda tasted like a toasted bread with oil on it or maybe an unsalted butter.
Easily the best thing we ate was the buttered parmesan shrimp.. they were amazing.. cooked perfect and so tasty.
The service was amazing and everyone was so kind and attentive.. what we experienced might have just been growing pains as they have recently opened or maybe it’s just super healthy food and lacking flavor for this foodie.
But I’ll give it some time then try them again once they have been open a...
Read moreMore like 3.5 stars! I have been wanting to try Urban Plates and finally came here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was packed. At one point, customers were standing around waiting for open tables. There is a nice open patio with heaters but it was a cool night to be sitting outside, especially if you have little kids or elderly.
This is a counter-service restaurant. You order/pay, get a number, find a table and they will bring you the food. You can order at the two kiosks or with a live person. The menu was overwhelming for me. I wish I had a chance to look through the menu in advance. In haste, I order the Moroccan Chicken Braise which wasn't bad. The sauce/gravy was on the watery side. The slice of bread that came with the meal was not edible. It didn't taste like bread and it was hard as a card board.
My friend had the Grilled Grass Fed Steak with broccoli and french fries. You can pick your sides. It was interesting that he asked for medium well steak but was told he can only pick medium rare or well done - no in between. I wonder why? Maybe the steak is cooked already in only two different temperatures? Anyway, I had a taste of the steak and it was alright. Mind you, I'm not a big fan of steak and hardly consume it.
We also got desserts because it's Friday :-) The Chocolate Vanilla Layer Cake was rich and moist. I didn't care for the Cowgirl Cookie.
Perhaps we didn't order the right item in this visit. I plan on giving them another try. I would like to try the Seafood Chowder and Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwiches or their Salads.
The location is great for me and I love the patio. The staff was very nice and work quickly to clear the tables for the...
