First time here. Many Vietnamese options in the area but have been wanting to try this place. Ate here for lunch on a Sunday. Fairly busy. They only had 2 workers serving and the cashier which may have been the owner who helped with cleaning tables, receiving payments, and other things on the floor. Service was slower than expected since there were only 2 people that worked serving both inside and outside sitting areas, however they were very nice and we could tell they both were working hard going from table to table. If they had one more server that may have helped. Food portions looked good. Presentations were pleasing to the eye. I had the typical bbq pork with egg roll over dry vermicelli noodles. This is my go to for testing among Vietnamese cuisine. My husband decided to go with the spicey beef noodle soup. The egg rolls were nice and crunchy but lacked flavor unless you add fish sauce to it. The bbq pork was very lean and dry and had to drown it with fish sauce. However I enjoyed the peanut and crunchy toppings that came with it. As for the beef stew soup, the meat was also very lean and were cut in big pieces and not as soft as we would have liked it. Would prefer Smaller bite size and cooking it longer for tenderness would have been better. Prices were about $3-$4 more per entree compared to our favorite place Viet Ha not too far away. However atmosphere is nicer here. Food here was good, but nothing to rave about. Sure there may have been other items on the menu that perhaps were better choices, but this review is based on my go to bbq pork with eggroll vermicelli bowl. You can still go and try...
Read moreI ordered Hu Tien Nam vang seafood. They served the meat one. I asked to change they just brought it back and put shrimp on the top with some seafood meat balls. The noodles became mushy and meat/organ meat still inside the bowl. They did not replace a new one(?) not sure why. The service is horrible. I did not order Togo, they brought one to my table (bo luc lac over rice). I told the server he put it away but not my bill until I told them I did not order, they keep asking me why I refused the order! OMG!. I could not eat as the meat still inside the bowl and the noodles was mushy, the soup was not clear as it soaked into the noodles. The appetite was not served from the menu picture as ordered Banh Bot Loc, in the menu it’s ready, but when they served I had to remove the banana leaves by hands…I order ice tea they didn’t bring it out, I had to ask and had if after they took time to check the ticket I waste $ and time there. I guessed they only one the transaction for that day, not relations for the long run. I’m glad that I did not bring family or friend yesterday....
Read moreDat Ky has been on my list to try. It's only fitting to try this place during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. It was a little busy on Sunday afternoon and we waited for about 10 min for a table inside. No waiting time for outside table.
For appetizer, we got the Banh Bot Loc (chewy tapioca dumplings) to share. This is one of my fav Vietnamese appetizer and it's so different to me. The combination of shrimp, pork belly and chewyness served with chili fish sauce is so yummy.
For Entree, I got the C1, Com Tam Dac Biet. It's broken rice with everything! It's huge and I had to take half home. The pork chop was nicely marinated and the fried fish cake was extra crispy. My companion had the N1, Hu Tien Nam Vang. It was steaming hot when it came out. I personally do not like intestines but he enjoyed it.
Nice newish place across from Asian Pearl Restaurants with...
