Absolutely terrible service. I ordered a virgin long island iced tea and was charged almost $3 extra for the drink than what was listed on the menu. I figured they may have changed the prices, so I didn't question it. Then, I was asked what kind of tea I wanted and when I asked for what types they offered, the cashier said "I don't know" and pointed to a stack of tea boxes that were too far away for me to read. After that, a woman (presumably the owner), came out and whispered to the cashier that he had overcharged me— they kind of laughed/smirked between themselves until they noticed I was listening, and only then offered me a refund. I was never told if this refund was successful or not. I waited for 15+ minutes for my drink to come out only for it to be a plain iced tea with the tea bag, NOT the Virgin Long Island Iced Tea I paid $9 for. At that point I had already been there far too long and there was a line so I didn't feel like makimg everyone else wait. But moral of the story, they charged me almost double for one drink that was far from the correct order. The workers were unhelpful, incompetent, and borderline suspicious (as I don't think they woukd have offered me a refund had I not been listening & I don't even know for sure that they did refund me). Read moreLiterally the worst service I have experienced in recent memory. First off, the young brown hair kid who looked 14 at most was unbelievably incompetent. Mumbled answers when asked. When asked if they had a flavor, he stated "I dont know". I asked again do you or dont you. He said no i guess. Asked if you can change the type of soda in the floats. He said it would be extra. Thats right. A 9.50 large float is extra if you change the soda. Never ever heard anything so ridiculous. Either this kid was stoned or just miserable. Either way, kids were crying because they wanted a treat. Unfortunately, the treat was to be treated with horrible service. Almost all their ice cream flavors were out. Insanity. Go somewhete else.
Edit: Absolute ridiculous response from the owner. If the employee has a cognitive issue, that is unfortunate. My requests were not demanding. I do not want anything from the owner. The kids disability was not the reason you were missing 70% of the ice cream option. The kid was not the reason you charge 9.50 and extra for a float. The service issue is one thing. FOOD & DRINKS Ordered the New York Sundae and they pile all three scoops and toppings in a narrow cup. IMHO, not the way a sundae should be served. Asked to have it in a longer dish with the ice cream scoops side by side and they said it will cost .75 extra? 🤦 I tipped 20% because they ask at the time of payment, I would have tipped less. I let them know if was for here and they still put it in a to go container.
SERVICE Service can be hot or cold. Sometimes I have real good service and other times not so much. This time was middle of the road.
DECOR Appropriate ice cream shop decor. Nothing to call out either way
CLEANLINESS Always clean and orderly, no complaints here. It is ALWAYS nice in here as far as cleanliness goes!
LOCATION Great for quick and easy access from Stockton boulevard.
PRICE Reasonable. One could argue that they are too high AND one could argue that they are too low. This tells me that they are priced correctly.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE Mostly positive. Personally I need to be prepared for variations in level of service. By doing this I'll keep coming back with appropriate...
