Finally got to come and try this place after seeing so much hype about it online. This spot is easy to miss because it’s tucked in the corner of a small strip of shops off Broadway. Parking can get a bit tricky because of this too. I came on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. All the seating inside which is kinda limited was filled and I waited maybe 10 minutes to get to the front. The menu is very simple just like the interior. The cafe has a minimalist and slightly industrial design but it is very light - both in color and the amount of light. Theres really tall ceilings which help it feel more spacious. There were people studying/working, hanging out talking, and others filming the infamous matcha being made. This isn’t a cozy cute spot if that’s what you’re looking for. I ordered the twice matcha which everyone seemed to be getting and a cortado. The twice matcha was super good because of the matcha cream top. The cream top is velvety and rich, it is sweet but not sugary. This cream top is so so good and when it mixes with the matcha latte it creates the perfectly not too sweet but sweet drink. I’m not sure if the matcha latte by itself will be as good to me but I’ll have to try it. The cortado was good as well, strong but had a nice flavor to it. Made me want to try their coffee/espresso based drinks. I’d definitely come again to try something new.

icha. Can't comment on the hojicha, but the matcha was so light, so creamy, so smooth. There's a beautiful balance when sipping it vs using a straw, bc you get a taste of the sweet and creamy matcha cream and a sip of the matcha latte. I was actually quite surprised by how spacious it was. It's pretty big inside, but bc it's such a popular spot, most spots are taken. There were a lot of people studying and working, but personally I think the atmosphere is a bit be too loud to work. The staff were so friendly and fairly quick with our drinks. I also ordered a Matcha Tea (matcha + water) for a friend, and after the staff made it, they actually called me back bc they noticed it was a lil chunky and wasn't smooth enough for their liking. I was so impressed that they actually quality check their drinks despite it being so busy for them. Definitely recommend checking offbeat if you're in sac; there is a parking lot outside but it gets filled quickly, so come early if you don't wanna wait! :)

This coffee shop has exploded in popularity, drawing so much interest that lines often form outside. Your experience here will largely depend on what you prefer to drink—based on what I’ve heard, their specialty leans more toward unique matcha creations. The coffee features a smoother roast, something close to Mast Coffee. Pricing is similar to Temple Coffee, so expect drinks on the higher end. Seating can be a bit chaotic, so it might not be the best place for studying or remote work. The parking lot isn’t huge, but you should still be able to find a spot. I think the location is great—there aren’t many other coffee shops in this part of town, especially not on this street. Wi-Fi speed is solid. Bonus points: the ceilings are extremely high, so if you're anywhere between 6 feet and 12 feet tall, you'll have plenty of headroom.

I like coming here on Saturday because there is a pop-up where there is a pastry called pastry cat. Pastry cat serves some really amazing pastries and you need to come here early or else the line is out the door and you will wait around 45 to 1 hour wait. It gets really confusing there is actually two lines one line is for the pastry and one line is for the coffee and each line is about the same time of wait on a Saturday morning before 9:00 a.m.. I am not exaggerating but if you are just going for the drinks maybe go on another day where there is no pastry pop up. The parking lot is quite big but it gets filled up quick and there is lots of street parking which is great. So I have came here quite a few times and try out their drinks I did have a ice Americano. I also had their strawberry yogurt matcha drink. Also they do have a twice matcha drink which I highly recommend it is really creamy and strong with matcha flavor. They're Monster drinks here is really good and they do have weekly specials so follow their Instagram to see which seasonal drink they are serving on the weekend. One of their drinks that is a must try is there banana pudding matcha latte if you get a chance to go try it. Overall each average drink is around $7 to $9 depending what you change or add such as milk or different cold foam flavor. I hope this review helps and thanks for reading and have a...

Very trendy coffee/macha shop with an industrial vibe. I decided to give them a try and the place was packed with a younger crowd.

Parking was a bit difficult as it's a smallish lot shared with multiple businesses, but lots of movement so shouldn't have to wait long.

I like my plain drip/brew coffees (or press/pour-over in fancier spots) so my baseline preference is a smooth, medium coffee without sharp or bitter notes. I usually add some sugar and a dash of dairy for my perfect cup.

Offbeat's blend didn't really do it for me. It's not bad but has some complex overtones that I'm not looking for. Their macha and espresso drinks are way more popular so think that's what I'll have to try next time.

I think they solidified a new rule of thumb for me where if a coffee shop doesn't have a station where I can add my own sugar and dairy (had to ask for it behind the counter here), I probably won't like their coffee.

Their staff was super friendly and fast and I really enjoyed the energy. Every seat was filled and there was a steady stream of customers. So if you want to enjoy your drink in an active environment then this is your place!

As a counterpoint I'd offer up 5-sips on Freeport for a much more mellow vibe and excellent coffee. Both are really good coffee shops but very different from each other. Definitely recommend trying out...
